getting on the tube after Taylor Swift, Wembley

sorry, it's another Taylor post!
Did anyone attend the London gig last night and what was it like getting back on the tube afterwards? I've seen some crazy photos of mad queues at Wembley Park at 12.30am and now wondering if I miss my tube, how much will it cost to get an uber to Paddington (where our cheap for London hotel is)
Would love to hear from people who attended the London concert yesterday.

I was there last night. It took an hour to get from our seats to being on the tube.

I definitely wouldn't plan for an Uber. We drive, parked 15 min walk from stadium and it took us 1.5 hours to get out of Wembley. Total gridlock. Also there is no encore, Karma is the last song and the show is incredible so you wouldn't want to miss a second. Depends where you're sitting but we were straight out afterwards, all free flowing no waiting but once out you have almost 89000 people walking in the same direction so it's not quick to get anywhere.
If I could plan out night again I'd book a hotel at Wembley Park.

We went on Friday and Wembley Central was chaos. The Bakerloo line had a blockage so couldn’t go as far as we needed so had to get an Uber eventually. Took us 2.5 hours to get back to South Harrow

Worst I've experienced last night. We were quite high up, so a while to get out of the stadium. But the queue for the station was almost up to the steps. Took 1.5 hours to get from my seat onto a tube. Wembley Central was shut. One of the Northern Met line platforms at Wembley Park was closed too. So while they managed the queue to the station ok, inside was chaotic. There was no system for people who were exiting Northbound trains, they had to battle through dense crowds. Imho it wasn't safe.

I'm here now and leaving 30 mins early hopefully getting an Uber..

It was particularly bad this weekend as Chiltern Railways had no services to Wembley stadium - engineering works on a totally different line (Birmingham to Euston) meant they were going to be busier than usual so they decided that the couldn't also deal with additional travellers to the concert

Therefore anyone wanting to go back to Oxford/Birmingham (and any stations in between) had to go into London on the Tube and back out from Marylebone rather than getting on the overground at the stadium, and anyone who would usually get on those trains into London were also filtered on the tube

Can't answer for Taylor but after Harry Styles last year Wembley Park was absolutely SWAMPED (and we'd stopped for a drink in Boxpark so this was an hour or so after the end of the concert).

We gave up and got an Uber to our hotel at Lancaster Gate not far from Paddington and it was £35. That was a Saturday night, and the price kept shifting as we watched on the Uber app, had been quite a bit more a few minutes earlier so worth monitoring for a price you're happy with.

anyone?

They're still queuing...😩

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 23/06/2024 21:51

Take the tube one stop in the wrong direction get off and get back on going the other way. You won't have to queue and you will get a seat.

My daughter is there tonight and got a tube quite quick - she left partway through Karma. She said people were sprinting to tube however as she had her massive platform docs on she couldn't run 😂(can barely walk after 6 hours standing in them)

She should get off tube about 11.15 which isn't too bad.

Not at Wembley, but leaving during karma and running like the clappers got us on the first tram out of Murrayfield. My dc burst into tears and still hates me for missing the end, but I have no regrets!

I’m sorry but that’s very sad. The end was amazing with fireworks colour co-ordinated to match the stage. Why ruin a perfect evening for her to get home an hour earlier? How many times will she get to see Taylor Swift vs going home and getting into bed?

Health over fireworks I'm afraid! I am unwell and could not have managed standing for the the 2hrs wait. Run like the clappers is really an exaggeration for the fast walk I managed!
