End of an Era

Readers Digest UK has ceased.
They printed quite a few of my bits and pieces, and paid well.
I will miss them.

I haven't seen it for years. Was it subscription only?

I used to love reading it at my grandparents. I probably would have bought a few copies if I knew how to buy it.

Mainly subscription, but you could buy it in WH Smith.
My WHS has just closed down...

I used to enjoy reading old bound copies found in various creaky hotels we visited when I was a child. They very much opened up the world to me. I loved the way everything was neatly summarised.

I remember my parents having a very snobbish attitude to them though and telling me off saying if I was interested in something, I should learn about it from source materials, not simplified snippets!

I think it was the snippets that attracted me. Then I started to submit bits and pieces and they took them!
