Ordering repeat prescriptions on NHS app

Can I ask a quick question, please? Sorry if this is dense.

If my repeat prescription says "Issued" on the NHS app, does this mean its been sent across from the GP to the pharmacy? And so should be ready to collect - my pharmacy downloads prescriptions every hour and my medicine isn't super rare?

It's my first time using the app to order repeat prescriptions and I want to avoid an unnecessary trip to the shops.

Thank you!

Issued just means the GP has signed it off.
So the pharmacy should have it but may not have fulfilled it yet.
I tend to allow 2 days at least if not urgent.

Similar to @TeenDivided I always leave a couple of days to collect it.

You could ring the pharmacy and ask.
I do this and usually they will make up the prescription within a few hours.
If the doctor has signed it off, they will have it for you.

I always give the pharmacy a ring before making the trip as there seems to be quite varying times between issuing and fulfilling even when it's always the same GP surgery and same pharmacy. Definitely worth calling them (the pharmacy) to check before going OP.

Thank you, this is super helpful. I'll give them a call.

I use boots for my prescription as they text me when it's ready

I use pharmacy2u so when it’s been issued, it goes straight to them who posts it, usually next day. I tend to get it 2-3 days after issued
