Summer seems to have finally arrived!

Who’s happy?!

Going by the amount of weather threads recently, it seems there’s always going to be some degree of dissent 😅
Personally I’m pleased to see blue skies and that bright orangey thing in the sky that’s been reported missing for months ☀️
Life seems to be a bit easier when the sun’s out!

Oh it’s so bloody glorious. We have so earned this. Spent last night in the garden with a wine, all day today watching the kids in the paddling pool, ugh we have EARNED this! I say this as someone who works outdoors and have done all through the months of pissing rain, gloomy clouds and cold winds.

Caught up with the washing, the kitchen garden is finally drying out and growing, and the strawberries are ripening. Just so content.

No-one said they loved the rainy weather.

Actually they did.

Yes. I also saw some rain lovers on a recent thread.
Give it time, the cosy blanket/hot chocolate wankers will be along before the day is out…

downwithmaterialistdogma · 21/06/2024 15:11

It's great. I'm bright red in the face, my hair and brow is wet with sweat. I'm irritable and have a headache. Feel a bit sick. Parts are wet and chafing. Hair resembles a fight in the Muppet factory.

Weather here is shit (Glasgow) am so envious Angry

Do you speak to people like that in real life?

Pickled21 · 21/06/2024 15:36

It's dull here and due to rain. It is meant to be sunny over the weekend and then showers from Tuesday onwards. We are off on holiday in a week so I'm just biding my time!

longdistanceclaraclara · 21/06/2024 16:10

We had a couple of hours of sunshine this morning. I got way over excited. It's now cloudy again although at least not raining. Not much better for the weekend by the looks of it.

RampantIvy · 21/06/2024 16:15

No, I wouldn't gloat, but I thought the thread about loving the shit weather was rather tone deaf.

It wasn't just about me and other posters feeling miserable about the weather, but farmers and other workers whose livelihoods who were negatively affected by the constant rain. Food prices will increase hugely because of the weather, so it will affect all of us.

Those of you who are still having rubbish weather - I hope the sun shines for you soon.

RampantIvy · 21/06/2024 17:09

This was on my Facebook feed just now.

Summer seems to have finally arrived!

Sod right off with all your ‘I’m worried about the farmers’ rubbish! 😂😂 You respond really, really badly to anyone who isn’t enjoying the heat and likes the cooler months. Even on the threads specifically targeted at those of us who struggle with summer, you’re on there full of outrage and demanding we repent and see the error of our ways. It’s almost like you think we’ve got the power to stop the sunshine simply by wishing it away and we’re doing it just to upset you.

Snackpocket · 21/06/2024 18:16

I’m so happy for the warmth and sunshine, but I’d like it a little bit hotter in the day and warmer at night! 😁

TheChosenTwo · 21/06/2024 18:27

It has and I’m delighted about it! Last night I was going to sit in the garden after dinner until it got dark and then dd1 suggested a walk. We hiked up to a good summit point nearby and sat with a lovely view for a good hour before we returned home - short sleeves and no layers, it felt like such a treat! Obviously many others had had the same idea as it was busy, full of people
Walking dogs, having a picnic, sharing a bottle of wine, just enjoying being outside - absolutely blissful.
Working today but as soon as I clocked off I was basking in the sun in the garden, just lovely.

Biscuit I live in a farming community. It isn't just about you. In any case it hasn't been hot, just nicely warm.
RabbitsRock · 21/06/2024 19:09

Raining in Cornwall & really cold! We get an odd few days of sunshine then it’s dull, wet & sometimes windy again. The wind has been bitter!

I apologise. I shouldn’t have bitten.

Savoydone · 21/06/2024 19:32

Raining here 😕

RampantIvy · 21/06/2024 19:34

Goodness, you are angry Whothefuckdoesthat.

I think you underestimate just how disappointed and fed up just how many people feel at how bad the weather has been, or maybe you live somewhere where it hasn't been as bad. Bar a couple of weeks, we have had relentless rain and cool weather for 11 months.

There is a significant minroity of mumsnetters who like a cold summer, but if you listen to the weather forecasters/newsreaders or read media channels you will realise that most people in the real world would enjoy some warmth and dry weather in the summer.

Note: dry warmth, not searing heat.

Yeah, it’s peri menopause I think. Normally I just roll my eyes and say it in my head. But I can’t seem to stop it coming out of my gob at the moment.

Coastalcreeksider · 21/06/2024 19:39

It's been great, I've managed to get more washing outside to dry instead of decorating the dining room on an airer, I feel better when I see blue sky and sunshine and miracle of miracles, my plants are starting to perk up, even my tomato plants that seemed to have got stuck at 6 inches.

Long may it continue. 🌞

Thank you.
It will pass. I am way past that, and I am currently enjoying the warmth right now. It isn't hot, just warm where I live, and not raining.

CharliesAngles · 21/06/2024 20:12

Well! So much for putting my feet up and lazing about - after blitzing the house, I got carried away and continued out into the garden.
I repotted the chillies, swept the patio and brushed down the benches and even cleaned the huge glass windows of the extension because the corners were so cobwebby!
I was on a mission, this lovely weather gave me such a burst of energy that I actually enjoyed myself 😆
I’m absolutely exhausted now but looking forward to a gorgeous salad niçoise courtesy of DH.
Tomorrow I will enjoy the sunshine with an easy conscience, with the bonus of a clean house and garden! 😇

(Sorry to hear the rain and cold is still hanging around for some of you. It has been such an odd long spell of winter - almost like Narnia.
May the sun shine and blue skies brighten your days very soon!)

@CharliesAngles awfully sorry to burst your bubble but if you are in England then we in Wales had that glorious sunshine yesterday. It's now raining in Swansea so it could possibly end up in your area tomorrow.

CharliesAngles · 21/06/2024 20:21

Oh @TroysMammy I just checked the forecast after reading your post! You’re right, there’s 50% chance of precipitation overnight but things should brighten up again after midday. I hope that’s right, or else I will be rioting after wasting today 😬😆
