Pasta Salad Questions

  1. Do you leave it minimum 30 minutes (preferably over night) before eating?
  1. Do you let the pasta go cold before eating?
  1. Do you rinse the pasta with cold water after cooking?

I've never done any but I think I should have?

Ah I numbered each question so it would be easy for people to answer but they've changed to bullet points.

I cool the pasta in cold water then drain

No I don't leave overnight

I drain the pasta, but don't rinse it, then add the mayo, finely chopped peppers and onions, sweetcorn etc when it's at room temperature, then refigerate. Tuna or prawns are added just before serving. I find it tastes much better the next day and I've made it for lots of buffets and its always goes down really well

I rinse the pasta in cold water after cooking. Shake it about a lot to get rid of the water. Stir in the other ingredients. Usually then refrigerate for a fair bit as I like it cold if it's got mayo in it

Pasta salad is an abomination.

Really? My teens don't like much but they enjoy this.

A former housemate of mine used to make herself a hot/warm pasta salad - just-boiled pasta, mayo and tinned tuna. Presumably some seasoning.

It was her 'just in from work, too tired for anything else' dinner, but she swears it was delicious.

Agree

For some reason I can't bear cold pasta. It has to be really hot and all dente and fresh from the pan. When I was a teen I did used to overcook a load of 10p fusilli, so it was basically a lump in the pan, then add copious pound shop pesto and cheddar, and eat that cold. Probably why I hate the idea of it now!

Preparetoturnright · 20/06/2024 18:30

Cold pasta should definitely be against the law.
