When did Ginger Bread Men stop being men?

I only went in for a ham sandwich and ended up putting the world to rights with every customer in there. Is this a recent thing or have I just been ignoring it because I dont buy gingerbread men although I loved the story as a child.

Are you saying men aren’t people?

Bigcoatlady · 20/06/2024 15:12

Its a biscuit. It does not have chromosomes and thus we cannot accurately determine its biological sex. You can interpret its gender how you wish. Sainsburys have clearly determined that there is insufficient information from the biscuits gender expression to determine whether the biscuit identifies as a man or a woman so is preferring to identify it as gender neutral.

If and when the biscuit develops consciousness of its own identity and can tell us how it identifies the label could be updated.

They are ginger fluid

Obviously if we're relying on nursery rhymes and fairy tales for sexing biscuits I would remind you it probably contains sugar and spice and all things nice and is thus a girl. IF it contains slugs, snails and puppy dogs tails it could be a boy. I would recommend not buying it in that event.

I’ve seen gingerbread folk somewhere but it’s labelled as men in some supermarkets.

Run, run as fast as you can
You can't catch me, I'm a gingerbread...

Nope, "person" doesn't rhyme or scan.
I'll have to think of a new rhyme to hurry my three year old along when we're late.

MoMo999 · 20/06/2024 15:37

I find it funny that pret have a "Gingerbread Biscuit Godfrey" - so I presume he is indeed a gingerbread MAN!
