Removing old highlighting from a PDF document in Adobe

Hello amazingly skilled people, anyone have a clue? I need to send an important document in a professional capacity. I'm on the verge of giving up and just sending it looking messy.

Can you not convert it from pdf to word, remove the highlighting there,then resave as a pdf?

face palm Duh!! Yes, thank you, that has mostly worked. There is still a small amount of stubborn highlighting, though, probably explained by deep technical formatting stuff I don't understand.
