Random spotting middle of cycle

I haven't been on any contraception since my son was born just over 2.5 years ago and periods have been pretty regular bar a few days here and there, never painful and always lash around 5 days and never had any bleeding in between. This month I had my period as usual but from cycle day 16 I've had 3-4 days of light spotting. I'm a bit concerned as it's never happened before, I used to get random bleeding on the pill but as I say not since I haven't been on any contraception. Has anyone experienced this and is it a cause for concern? I'm on holiday at the moment and not sure whether it warrants a GP appointment or if I should wait until my next cycle and see if it happens again.

I think if you are mid cycle it's the egg attaching to the womb lining and knocking it a bit .

Thanks for the reply. I worried myself a bit with a bit of googling so wanted to make my own post to see if others had experienced this.
