Stitch left in wound after cyst removal

Sorry, i don't know whereabouts to post this. I think i just need someone to feel outraged for me.

I had a cyst on my forehead removed 2.5 weeks ago. I paid for a reputable private hospital (chain) even though i had seen it could be a little cheaper elsewhere because i felt they were less likely to mess me around.

A week later i had the stitches out. I've done a good job of keeping the scab as long as possible minimise scarring but today the last of it fell off and ive noticed that part of one of the stitches is sticking out of the middle of the wound.

To be fair, i called the hospital and here i am an hour later in their waiting room as they are going to squeeze me in with the consultant but i'm so angry. I have a bit of a history of stupid/ could have easily been avoided mistakes both with the nhs and private. (2nd one this week actually and i hardly ever have anything to do with doctors and hospitals).

Am i being overly sensitive by being so angry or not angry enough?

Blimey. It happens. It’s sometimes hard to see them all due to the position/state of the wound. It’s not something I would be so angry about.
I saw someone the other day that had a staple left in after a hip replacement, it had been hidden by the swelling. Give them a break.

Yabu. Such things happen.

Yeah i was totally being unreasonable. Its sorted now. Just feeling a bit overwhelmed that nothing seems to be as simple and straight forward as it should/seems like its going to be

God. Wouldn’t even cross my mind to go back let alone be angry. Glad you know you were unreasonable and are feeling better 😄

You wouldn't have gone back if you though there might be part of a stitch under your skin/wound?

I would have pulled it out myself but I’m that kind of person!

NoKids2 · 19/06/2024 19:27

Yeah i tried that and it hurt/pulled so much.
