If you went to a sex therapist would you expect sex as part of the treatment? (TW for rape)

A woman has won damages after claiming a sex therapist raped her. (I’m saying claiming because not a criminal case and it’s what they say in the article, not because I don’t believe her).

This therapist offers “bodywork” and has had sex with 30 to 40 of his clients as part of their treatment. Surely that’s not ethical?

for her pursuing this. Maybe others will come forward as she has waived her anonymity so will probably get more press coverage.

I once had a therapist in London, highly regarded (about 10.years ago) who suggested I go to a 'therapeutic' clinic who would counsel me regarding my sexual trauma (childhood abuse) and then have sex with me as a component of healing.

There are some very very dodgy therapists out there who pray on very vulnerable people. The most scary thing is that many of them believe what they are doing is right and that they have the answer. That is not the only questionable practice I have experienced.

I now am very skeptical and cynical of all therapists and therapy as it seems to me it is a profession that attracts some very fucked up people.

I am so glad you didn’t do it and so shocked that an otherwise regarded therapist would recommend it! WTF?!
