Do not buy Beko products!

Beko oven broke down after very short time. Customer service not helpful at all and will not repair. I suspect it is only the element that has gone which is very cheap to replace (but I wouldn't know how) so they are just being arseholes really by not attempting to fix.

Unreliable products and shoddy service.

I have a Beko tumble, dishwasher and fridge and they are great.

The element blew on my oven (not Beko, think it was Baumatic) when it was fairly new. These things happen.

GoogleWhacking · 18/06/2024 18:39

My beko washing machine broke after 20 months. They refused to do anything. Arseholes.

BarberellaWife · 18/06/2024 18:44

My beko washer dryer broke after three years and they wouldn't do anything either.

I've always had Beko white goods. On the rare occasion I've need to speak to customer services they have been helpful.

@Bluevelvetsofa of course things go wrong with appliances from all manufacturers that can't be put down to wear and tear or age, the problem lies more with how said manufacturer deals with it (or not as the case may be)

The manufacturer has nothing to do with it though, unless you bought it directly from Beko.

Oven is 18 months old which think personally is too new for it to breakdown. It comes with a 2 year guarantee that you have to register for which stupidly I didn't straightaway but did it yesterday once it had broken. Apparently, though this is NOT stated on the guarantee document, this had to be done within the first 90 days so now Beko have washed their hands of the problem because I didn't adhere to this unwritten rule. For a part so cheap, I just feel that they could have replaced out of generosity to maintain some sort of good customer service but apparently not. Won't be buying their products again! (Plus I will learn my lesson and register the guarantee straightaway with future electrical purchases).

Husband and I will attempt to replace the element ourselves - plenty of YouTube vids on this (I'm just hoping he knows how to wire it back into the mains as I don't).

This is exactly what happened to me. Apparently they feel that they don't have to adhere to the law if you don't register the product.

It does have something to do with the manufacturer if they are the ones offering a 2 year guarantee and 10 year's of parts!

But they can impose any terms on that that they want. And in this case it’s the registration within a certain amount of time. That’s the same as most manufacturers.

Well yes they can. My issue is they didn't tell me that in any literature that they sent with the oven. And regardless, as an offer of kindness and maintaining a degree of being reasonable, they could have offered to fix as it has only been 18 months.

This is why Consumer Rights information needs to be taught in school.

Have you tried contacting the retailer? Who are the ones your contract is with?

Thankyou, I have seen that link in the interim so realised I was in the wrong! But my point still stands that Beko could have kindly just gone above and beyond and sorted anyway. It's never going to go down well in this day and age if customers buy appliances and they don't last long as they will quite rightly name and shame. It's not to be an arsehole, it's just fair that a reasonable amount of time elapses before appliances start going wrong.

Our Beko oven broke on Christmas Eve. It was the element and the oven was 8 years old. Dh changed the element once he could buy one and it was a quick repair, he watched a video on you tube. It works great now just like new.

Basicallyluls · 18/06/2024 21:48

Love my Beko fridge, freezer, washing machine. Going strong since 7 years. I'll certainly be buying again. Good price, quality ratio, good investment in technology and I know they even have a research centre in Cambridge.

user13422052 · 18/06/2024 22:04

I've got a moo-ing beko fridge too! 20 years old. I still wake up in the middle of the night thinking WFT after a loud CLUNK MOOooooooooo glug glug glug glug glug ngggggggg mmmmoooooOOOOOO glug

I'm rather fond of it, it's got a lot of personality for a fridge.

Clingfilm · 18/06/2024 22:17

Beko fridge, freezer and washing machine here, all over 5 years old, all fine.

Brefugee · 18/06/2024 22:20

Mu cheapo Beko washing machine has been going 7 years. Friend's Beko fridge-freezer fine after 8.

Borborygmus · 18/06/2024 22:45

I made the mistake of thinking all fridge freezers are much the same, so bought a cheap Beko. It's still going, but only just, never again!

GrinAndBeerIt · 19/06/2024 00:16

I've just replaced my 11 year old beko washing machine as it was becoming temperamental.
From it's first use, it made a really loud and annoying humming noise when draining and spinning. It was so loud that my neighbour could hear it, and there's a garden between us!
I had to replace my five year old beko fridge freezer last Christmas, the inconsiderate bugger decided that 23rd December would be an ideal date to die, but it would wait until after I'd filled it first.
No more beko for me thanks.

I've never had any issues with Beko products but don't start me on Hoover, my 6 month old washing machine has reluctantly been repaired twice, and the amount of calls I get from them is almost like stalking to take out extended warranty!

If it's under a year old they should fix it under warranty.

Oh, don't get me started on Hoover washing machines 😠

But why should Beko (or any manufacturer) go 'above and beyond' at their own cost? Where do they draw the line?
At a day over 12 months (the min warranty they all have to offer) then you might have a point, but at 6 months over (and when you haven't done the 2 min job of registering) then I can see why they have stuck to their guns.

They offered the enhanced protection of a 2 year warranty. You chose not to take it up, but now you want to use it. I can see their point.

As I mentioned, they didn't send anything to say it had to be done by a certain time point.

I don't know where the line should be drawn for appliances going wrong, but 2 years sounds like a good point as highlighted by their guarantee, and my oven broke down after 18 months

Funny, I purchased a Leisure cooker years ago, the grill never worked. Due to life getting in the way it went out of warranty. When I cooked in the main oven the paint above would blister and burn off I ate with a putrid smell of burnt paint. Recently the clock broke which means I now have no oven (won't work without set clock) I contacted 'Leisure' who offered a engineer to visit (over a hundred pounds without cost of replacement parts) 'Leisure' are Beko

Almost everything is beko in this house. Never had a problem. First brand I look at. Lots of which best buys too.

ChilliMania · 03/01/2025 11:00

I bought a Beko tumble drier. It overheated badly on first use, and destroyed all my children’s school uniform. They gave me my money back but refused to compensate me for the damaged clothes.
