Do not buy Beko products!

Beko oven broke down after very short time. Customer service not helpful at all and will not repair. I suspect it is only the element that has gone which is very cheap to replace (but I wouldn't know how) so they are just being arseholes really by not attempting to fix.

Unreliable products and shoddy service.

We can probably do without the misogynistic language, whether or not the cooker works.

Bulkypeepants · 18/06/2024 15:57

Oven is 18 months old which think personally is too new for it to breakdown. It comes with a 2 year guarantee that you have to register for which stupidly I didn't straightaway but did it yesterday once it had broken. Apparently, though this is NOT stated on the guarantee document, this had to be done within the first 90 days so now Beko have washed their hands of the problem because I didn't adhere to this unwritten rule. For a part so cheap, I just feel that they could have replaced out of generosity to maintain some sort of good customer service but apparently not. Won't be buying their products again! (Plus I will learn my lesson and register the guarantee straightaway with future electrical purchases).

Husband and I will attempt to replace the element ourselves - plenty of YouTube vids on this (I'm just hoping he knows how to wire it back into the mains as I don't).

Honestly you or someone you know should be able to replace an oven element yourself. If you are out of warranty and really can't do it then buy one and ask an odd job person to do it.

Pinkywoo · 18/06/2024 16:01

You don't need to rewire it, just turn off the big red switch on the wall before poking about with a screwdriver!

Corksoles · 18/06/2024 16:05

Take them to the small claims for 70% of the cost of the oven. It's not fit for purpose if it stops working within 18 months. Just fill in a form on dot.gov. Don't let them get away with it! **

Beko freezer has been going strong for 15 years. Wish I could say the same for my Zanussi oven and Neff dishwasher

This.
its genuinely straight forward

if your not confident after watching the video there are plenty of repair people out there. Your local Facebook group should help you there

I had a Nordmende oven and I had to replace the element 3 times in 5 years! Easy and cheap enough to do, but annoying nonetheless.

Never had an issue with Beko, had multiple appliances over the years in various houses and no serious issues 🤷‍♀️

Kinda your own fault for not realising the extended warranty needed to be registered before a certain cut off, that's standard for any model of white goods I've ever purchased and it's always stated it somewhere, either the leaflet or the manual.

Cuppateatea · 18/06/2024 16:15

My Beko washing machine glass front shattered while it was on a washing cycle. Totally out of the blue. Scared the bejeezus out of me. Glass everywhere and all my clothes inside were shredded! Seriously it looked like they’d been stabbed hundreds of times. 18 months old machine. They replaced machine still waiting to hear back about my claim for replacing clothes that were damaged and now unwearable!

I have a beko fridge freezer, over 10 years old, works perfectly fine BUT every so often it makes a noise like a cow mooing, it's always done it, according to Google it was a common thing with them

We have this with our Bosch fridge! People never believe me when I say it's the fridge making that noise.

Greaterorlesser · 18/06/2024 16:24

My Beko freezer caught fire during the night

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 18/06/2024 16:25

Beko products have been fine for us washing machine, dryer and fridge freezer going on nearly decade after guarantees ran out.

We had to change the element in electric oven - different make- was straight forward and it's been fine since.

Yea, I learnt a hard lesson. I did think it was a bit odd that I was able to register the product yesterday after 18 months but it didn't say anything on the guarantee people work that it had to be done within 90 days!

Beko fridge freezer and dishwasher here, both more than 5 years old and no issues.

Funnywonder · 18/06/2024 16:43

We just got rid of our (still working) Beko fridge freezer after 19 years. Can't complain tbf!

muddyford · 18/06/2024 16:47

My Beko dishwasher failed a week after the guarantee ended. They never even bothered to answer my email.
Parents' deep freeze failed ditto.
Utter crap but often the ones put in fitted kitchens.

LadyRoughDiamond · 18/06/2024 17:06

I used to work for a leading homes magazine. Beko were the only brand our editor refused to accept advertising from. I remember her fighting her corner with the directors and the ad dept. Her argument was that they produced sub-standard, sometimes dangerous, appliances that put poorer, often vulnerable, customers at risk. That stayed with me - I still won’t go near them.

Marshfritillary · 18/06/2024 17:19

My first Beko fridge lasted two years. I thought it was an unfortunate one off and replaced with similar. The second Beko fridge died one week after the one year guarantee. I would never buy anything Beko again.

Bluevelvetsofa · 18/06/2024 17:56

I imagine most people have had or will have issues with several manufacturers. Our Samsung washing machine didn’t last very long, the Dyson vacuum cleaner has an unreliable battery, the Zanussi dishwasher failed after a couple of years, expensive mattresses have been uncomfortable, the Skoda Kamiq car we had needed a new DSG gearbox after less than a year.

I’m sure people will say they’ve had no problem with all of those manufacturers.

Completely unnecessary and misogynistic

Bulkypeepants · 18/06/2024 18:24

@Bluevelvetsofa of course things go wrong with appliances from all manufacturers that can't be put down to wear and tear or age, the problem lies more with how said manufacturer deals with it (or not as the case may be)

I love my Beko washing machine - far more reliable than the Bosch it replaced. In fact I've had the most issues with Neff - two dishwashers within five years ((and they were not heavily used).
