Friend felt ill last Friday, weekend spent in bed. Thought flu as bad headache, aching body.

But yesterday came out in blistered spots in her head, fingers, face and body. Also
headache, fever, blistered spots, whole body aching, painful joints, painful to walk as feet painful.

Went to GP...who took temp it was 39...gp said NOT shingles, could be hand foot, mouth or chicken pox...had chicken pox.
Didnt know what was wrong, but gave ABs.

This morning still the same the pain in her body and feet she can hard put her feet flat or walk.

Any ideas????

Chickenpox or shingles would seem the most likely cause, do any of these look right

You can get chickenpox a second time. It's not hugely common but not uncommon either, immunity wanes for a variety of reasons

Maybe hand foot and mouth? My friends DD had this and the blisters on her hands and feet were awful.

Why are you sure it's not chicken pox? It really does sound like it.

CornishTeaTime · 18/06/2024 21:02

GP said it wasnt

I felt like that with chicken pox, which i had twice- at 14 and then as an adult. I don't trust the word of one gp. Tell your friend to get a second opinion.

LapinR0se · 18/06/2024 21:06

CornishTeaTime · 18/06/2024 21:06

If the GP was giving her antibiotics for what sounds like a viral infection then she really needs another GP. This is why there s so much antibiotic resistance (unless of course the gas a secondary infection).

My friend's daughter was diagnosed with chickenpox by her gp. However my daughter caught what was very clearly hand, foot and mouth from her. Really unfortunately her daughter did actually catch chickenpox a few weeks later. GPs can get these things wrong.

CornishTeaTime · 18/06/2024 21:19

Not itchy at all she says

How old is she?

CornishTeaTime · 18/06/2024 21:21

Hand foot and mouth I think is more of a rash....she has blisters, swollen fingers, blisters in her head/hair

Ive told her to go to hospital....sit and wait...they can run blood tests...the GP doesnt know, waste of time going again.

Well friend has been in hospital all day...bloods taken, tests, cultures grown.
They think its from a scratch from a kitten that had fleas!!!!! Or was carrying some disease!!!!!!!

In hosp still overnight in a chair as no beds!!!

Cat scratch disease/fever?

CornishTeaTime · 19/06/2024 22:41

They think but not sure....been taking blood all day and growing cultures. Dermatology went home at 6pm and they are the ones who are diagnosing so they want her to stay. A week tomorrow this happened and she's got worse everyday. She can hardly walk with the pain
