Parent's house, can't sleep!

I mean, it doesn't make any strange noises, it isn't in a noisy area, not too hot, not too cold...
But every time I visit (4 -5 per year as opp ends of country), no matter how tired I am, how much I need a rest, sleep eludes me after about 2 hours. Doesn't happen at home, or rarely.
Thank god for MN! Any suggestions on how to stay asleep on a postcard please!

Nope, I give you solidarity- I’m exactly the same. If DD has a sleepover I can’t even sleep in my own house. WHY?! 🤣

The only thing that has helped is walking or hiking, but if I then don’t sleep I feel absolutely awful. DH and DD pass out anywhere!

Thank you! Thank goodness it's not just me!
I was forced into going downstairs to make a vat of coffee!

I usually make a cup of tea, I know advice is no caffeine but when you’ve been awake hours there’s not much else to do!
Hopefully you’ll sleep a bit better tonight!

Audiobook.

Anything by Kazuo Ishiguro sends me off a treat. Not that his writing is dull; I really enjoyed his books when I read them myself. But having a story where not much happens, read to me in a calm, subdued voice, is really really soothing.

I set the app to stop playing after 1hr, and If I wake in the night I just hit play again. It sends me back to sleep within minutes. And on the very rare occasions that it doesn't, I just listen to the story and it prevents me from fretting about being awake.
