Hi all,

We are going to see Kings of Leon on Sunday in Bristol. Partner has booked it. I obviously have to arrange a babysitter who is asking what time they need to arrive. Partner can't give me a straight answer (as usual).

I've looked online and it says it starts at 15.00. Partner has said that's the supporting bands and Kings of Leon won't be on for hours later, it'll be an all night thing until 11pm.

Is this correct?? I've only ever been to 2 concerts (not really my thing) and we turned up at the time on the ticket, saw 2 bands supporting, then the main act and it was done in 2/3 hours.

Has anyone been to a concert at Ashton Gate, Bristol or seen Kings of Leon or even just a regular concert goer and able to tell me if what my partner says is correct and how long it's likely to last?

I've literally asked him what time it starts and have had 12 messages of pointless info.

Thank you.

thats the time the stadium lets you in (3pm) prob first act at 5pm and main act maybe 7.30pm? There will be a curfew so maybe a 10.30/11pm finish

MabelMaybe · 17/06/2024 10:10

I'd agree with the 10 / 11pm end, including an encore.

Comefromaway · 17/06/2024 10:12

It looks like they have an extra support act for Bristol rather than just the one for the rest of the tour. 3pm is the doors open time. The support actually starts at 5pm

Looking online it says 15.00 to 19.00 so looks like it maybe just an afternoon concert.

Thanks all! I'm completely out of touch. When I saw it started at 15.00 I assumed I'd be back before bedtime. We've got a family member babysitting but I'm not sure if my son will be happy if they put him to bed!
My partner seems to want to miss the supporting acts and just arrive for the actual band...but has no idea of timings. I've also emailed the venue.

Why is this - obviouslyHmm - your problem to solve? Pass it back to him.

Anotherdayanotherdrama1 · 17/06/2024 10:17

@senua the relationship issues are a whole other thread.
I wish I wasn't going to be honest, I've been stressing about this for ages. I don't even like Kings of Leon 🤦

Looking online it says 15.00 to 19.00 so looks like it maybe just an afternoon concert.

But in the travel information it says that the pre-event shuttle buses run from 3 pm to 7 pm and then go back after the event. Also that there are road closures until midnight/2 am.

I'd expect it to be a 'normal' concert where the support acts start at around 7 pm and KoL are on from about 9 until 11. Doors open at 3 pm so people can go in and chat with other fans, buy merchandise, get food and drinks and get a prime spot in the mosh pit.

Kings of Leon will perform Ashton Gate Stadium as part of their Can We Please Have Fun World Tour - here's everything you need to know about getting to the gate for the concert on Sunday, June 23rd.

The Ashtongate site and the ticket purchase site AXS together say

  • doors 3pm
  • start 5pm - there are 2 support acts, the Vaccines and Holly humberstone, then KoL
  • end 11.

So I would expect something like one act 5-6, second 6.30-7.30 then KoL 8-11 ish.

Comefromaway · 17/06/2024 12:13

At other venues the curfew has been 10.30pm

Octaviathethird · 17/06/2024 13:19

Sounds the same as Take That last weekend at Ashton Gate, the fan village opened at 3pm, entrance to the seating and pitch standing at was at 5pm. Take That only had one support act which was at 7:30pm, but if there are 2 support acts, the first will be earlier than that, Take That didn't come on til about 9pm. Ashton Gate only released timings 2 days before so we were similarly unsure of what time we needed a babysitter, what time to book parking etc.
