I'm so fucking angry. Ex has the kids every other weekend . They are 8 and 9 . He lives in Hastings I'm in London. He let my 8 year old travel in the boot of the car. All the way from Hastings to hone. So no seat belt or anything DS would have been killed had there been a crash.

And you know what he said. When i pulled him up on it. He said yeah ds said " I'm doing that all the time" and I ( as in ex) told ds no your not. Abd I replied you can't be doing that M . He said yeah I lnlw I told him. I replied your the parent . He went yeah i know. WTF.
:
Wwud? Also I want to send him a message but I don't knlw what to say.

Sorry title should say : title should say DS not da

I'm not surprised that you're livid, OP.

Personally, I think this is one to actually phone the non-urgent police line for advice,

Illegal, ill judged, just unbelievable.

Invisimamma · 16/06/2024 19:04

I don't think my children would be travelling in his car again.

Is contact court ordered?

Dear ex,

I'm really upset that you think it is ok to put E at risk by letting him travel in the boot. Even when I questioned you, you put it back onto E . You did not take any responsibility for what you done wrong. This is very basic parenting. Had there been an accident E would have lively been killed. Could you have lived with that. You would have been in prison and i would have Been buring a child . No doubt you are rolling your eyes. But are you really willing to risk your child's life . Im honestly wondering if it's safe for them to see you . Considering the danger you put E in.

Can I message that to him or should I be saying more?

Ex.. I have reported you to the police
Op.
Do not get into a conversation with him as he cannot reply with any justification...
Stop contact until you see car seats in his car. Or he can take you to court..

I don't have money for court. ?

He has carseats and belts but obviously I can't see what they are doing in Hastings.

I asked the boys if they use seat belts when they are there. And they said yes . To double check I said even if your riding for a few mins and they said yes.

Was your son actually locked in a boot in a saloon car, or the back bit of a hatchback?

CCLCECSC · 16/06/2024 19:43

I'd contact the Police for advice

Would that make a difference? He's still not using a seatbelt, which is illegal.

MissMoneyFairy · 16/06/2024 19:49

This needs reporting to the police, it put your child at risk. Don't communicate with him, let the police investigate and they can make the appropriate referrals.

JohnofWessex · 25/08/2024 08:01

Social Services?

If there is no court order than nothing to stop you ending contact until such time as he provides a written undertaking that the children will only travel in a car if they are in a seat with a seat belt on.

Be interesting to see him take that to Court!

Don't contact your ex. Don't let him see the children.
Contact police...
Terrible parenting!

We did this a lot in the 80s. Back seat down, get as many children as you could into a hatchback. Frowned upon nowadays 😬

OnlyOneAdda · 25/08/2024 09:25

If this happened 10 weeks ago why are you only now reacting / responding?
