Fathers' Day: Is your husband upset because you're seeing your dad today?

Just wondering.

My dh didn't even know it was FD until I told him this morning, while my own dad died a few years ago.

Typically Mother's Day on Mumsnet sees a fair few posts from wives who have been upset by their husband prioritising their mum over them on the day.

Are there Mumsnet men kicking off about the same thing today?

Most of the women upset on Mother's Day have small children whose father hasn't made the slightest effort to help them mark the day. (Either that or teens who have never been taught to do so and therefore don't bother.)

Some of them even insist that his mother needs to see her grandchildren because it's Mother's Day, so his wife either gets left on her own or has to spend possibly the entire day with her MiL.

I suspect you're unlikely to find a man who cares about Father's Day yet whose wife hasn't made sure the children are prepared for it.

I think most of the upset mums about Mother’s Day are just really tired and stressed and want a little acknowledgement. I am less bothered now my kids are older. DH is not bothered about Father’s Day and I’d love to see my Dad instead if he was still alive - DH wouldn’t care but I think he did appreciate not getting up to make coffee, a card and some beer.
