What is fashionable for 11 year old girls?

We are taking 11yo DSD shopping for clothes. She's still quite young for her age and gravitates towards pretty dresses. There's nothing wrong with that at all but she's starting secondary school and also wants to get some trendy things. She seems to have no idea and nor do we! What kind of style should we be looking for? She likes her clothes loose and comfortable mostly. Thanks!

It really varies so she should wear what she’s comfortable in and likes.

Dd and her friends are mostly wearing wide leg jeans or cargo trousers with cropped (not super short) t shirts. Sometimes they’ll wear leggings with a longer, looser t shirt. Lots of cropped jumpers or hoodies.
Dresses/skirts seem to be worn less often.

Most seem to be buying from H&M or New Look or Primark. At some point they’ll graduate to Hollister/Superdry/Brandy friggin Melville but am trying to delay that.

I think you'd struggle to buy things that aren't at least slightly trendy in New Look or Primark. If you can afford it, treat it as an experiment and let her pick a variety of things, then see what she actually wears out of it over the next few months. She might find something she unexpectedly loves, or equally something that isn't really her and she's not comfortable in.

My 11 year old is in to white fox hoodies, black leggings, Nike cycling shorts, white sports socks. Very sporty theme at the moment.

If we go out for a meal - wide legged jeans and fitted t-shirts

I’d have a wander round a shopping mall and get her to point out what she thinks looks nice on other people too.

Have a look on pintrest to see fashion for 11 year olds and see what she likes on there. Also shien has a good selection at really cheap prices. My dd gets loads of there and it doesn’t break the bank

Hoodies , Nike pro shorts and leggings, crop t shirts , wide leg jeans is what all the girls of that age wear around here . Don't see them in skirts or dresses at all .

Wide leg jeans, shortish t-shirts (not cropped) and reebok/ addidas camper type trainers seems to be the look here.

My 12yo lives in sports leggings and tshirts. Hoodies when chilly (so all the time)

There's massive variation from tiny shorts and crops tops to baggy jeans.

Tighter dresses also seem ok.
