If you've given birth...

Do you wee when you cough/sneeze/jump on a trampoline? Or similar.

And how many children do you have, what was your birth like?

I have one DC, vaginal forceps delivery. I don't have any urinary incontinence, however I was 18 when I had him.

I'm finding myself worried about having more children, and the effects it will have on my body now that I'm not an elastic teenager!

No I’ve never leaked a drop, even in the minutes after birth.

BIWI · 15/06/2024 19:32

Two vaginal births, at age 32 and 35. First one required stitches, second one didn't.

I'm 64 now and have no issues. Pelvic floor exercises have always been important!! And I do a lot of core work at the gym, which can only help.

UpUpUpU · 15/06/2024 19:32

I am 40, son is about to turn 6. Forcep and epis for delivery. I can’t run or jump without leaking (or tighten my horses girth actually!) don’t err when I sneeze but do if I cough a lot.

to add, I also have a mild rectal prolapse which causes more problems

My pelvic floor is practically non existent

Bigredpants · 15/06/2024 19:38

Occasional sneeze leaks. I wear knicker liners just in case. Two vaginal births. First birth had 3rd degree tearing. One twin birth with 2nd twin born via forceps.
I really should do those pelvic floor exercises.

Branleuse · 15/06/2024 19:40

Yes, ive got 3 children and i definitely do not go on trampolines anymore.
Tbh though I was mostly fine, and it was menopause that made the worst difference

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2024 19:44

I have given birth three times. No problems after the first two, but did after the third. I had non-invasive treatment on my pelvic floor from a women's physio for a few weeks and 25 years on would happily get on a trampoline - I'm 60.

Clawedino · 15/06/2024 19:45

I only ever have a tiny drop at most and only if I'm having a really bad coughing episode. One baby. I was 31. It was a really quick and easy birth (baby 6lb 7oz). A colleague had a c-section at 20 and has trouble when she's sneezing, so doesn't seem to do with age or delivery method!

Autumn1990 · 15/06/2024 19:48

I’ve had one cs and one vb. had issues after the cs but not the vb. only leak if I’ve a full bladder and laugh a lot now.

Abitorangelooking · 15/06/2024 19:49

I had twins in my mid thirties. Many years of pelvic floor exercises and generally it’s fine. I do squeeze my knees together. Clench if I cough or sneeze snd no way will I get on a trampoline.

AlwaysCloudyAtNoon · 15/06/2024 19:49

2 vaginal births when I was 37 and 39. Both required a great deal of intervention.

I leak all the time. I have to wear pads because I just constantly leak. I do various exercises and it may have helped- not sure if it would be worse if i did not do them though.

CrispAppleStrudels · 15/06/2024 19:52

After DD1, i had some stress incontinence and two episodes of flooding whilst still in hospital - i had pelvic floor physio and things massively improved to the point where i had no leaks even when coughing. Then when i got pregnant with DD2, i suddenly started leaking all the time. I was referred for pelvic floor physio again, saw a lovely physio who tweaked my technique for in pregnancy and the leaks resolved themselves again. Currently 10weeks post partum and so far so good. Both labours were fast, babies were small (5lbs 12oz and 6lbs 3oz) and i was 34 and 37 at the time of giving birth.

Fontainebleau007 · 15/06/2024 19:53

2 vaginal births, one forceps and one where he got stuck.. (I won't go into detail but the amount of times the doc had to reach in and even take a blood sample from baby's head 🫣🫠)
No I don't have any bladder weakness thank goodness! Pelvic floors are a must!

nameohnameohname · 15/06/2024 19:54

4 vaginal births, 1 episiotomy and 2 tears, my bladder is the strongest thing about me! Must be good genes.

Gemmy96 · 15/06/2024 19:57

EMCS, getting none of this after giving birth is a definite perk!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 15/06/2024 20:00

No, and I had two pretty difficult vaginal deliveries. One back to back, with failed ventouse and then forceps and an episiotomy.

Mammma91 · 15/06/2024 20:02

I had a forsteps delivery with DC1, DC2 is 11 weeks and had an unassisted delivery - had no incontinence first time, second time ever so slightly probably for the first 5ish weeks or so, but now pretty much back to normal. I think it was mainly linked to holding in my wee whilst dealing with 2 young children as opposed to any long term damage done to my pelvic floor.

RandomMess · 15/06/2024 20:04

4 DC, vaginal unassisted deliveries all is fine despite them being very large and I am very petite!

Sunshinedaytoday · 15/06/2024 20:05

2dc both cs, I can't jump on a trampoline
But both babies were over 11lbs.

TheChosenTwo · 15/06/2024 20:06

3dc all born vaginally, first at 19 unassisted, second at 21 with forceps and third at 26 unassisted.
No issues with pelvic floor - the only reason I now can’t bounce on a trampoline is because of my dodgy back! Shame as I love them!

StikItToTheMan · 15/06/2024 20:09

3 vaginal births at age 21, 23 and 30. Birth 1 included ventouse. I'm now 37.

Trampolines and exercise are absolutely fine. I've occasionally had a tiny urine leak (a couple of drops only) with a particularly violent bout of coughing, sneezing or vomiting. But it's so rare it's not even on my radar, certainly not enough to wear panty liners or whatever.

TruthorDie · 15/06/2024 20:09

My pelvic floor needs a bit of work. I try big times usually gets away with me. Plus twins at 43, who had a combined weight of over 12 lb plus the 2 placentas and 2 amniotic sacs. Recent chest infections have led to the odd dribble

iAmBarbara · 15/06/2024 20:10

2 vaginal births, both big babies.
one with epidural and took days of active labour, the other came in under 2 hours from first twinge of labour to being in my arms (no time for pain relief etc)

no, never had issues at all with my pelvic floor, I would say that it’s always been super strong, and now maybe stronger than ever; although I did do kegels a lot after both births and still do them regularly now.

TwoBlueFish · 15/06/2024 20:13

Two vagina births in my early 39’s. Tear with first and episiotomy with second. Second was large baby and shoulders got stuck. My pelvic floor and core are non existent so yes to all of those.

Wills890 · 15/06/2024 20:15

I had a baby at 33, first one and have had no lasting effects other than a fat belly which I could resolve by eating a few less biscuits!
