If you've given birth...

Do you wee when you cough/sneeze/jump on a trampoline? Or similar.

And how many children do you have, what was your birth like?

I have one DC, vaginal forceps delivery. I don't have any urinary incontinence, however I was 18 when I had him.

I'm finding myself worried about having more children, and the effects it will have on my body now that I'm not an elastic teenager!

2, aged 3 and 5, north ELCS and this happens quite often when I sneeze!

Babyybabyyy · 15/06/2024 20:16

One child (I was 26) and nearly one year postpartum I still have pelvic floor issues. I don't have incontinence, but it is weak. I am very slim and the labour was three days long. Pregnancy was hard. Vaginal delivery, no forceps. I'm scared to have another child.

merryandbrightdelight · 15/06/2024 20:17

Oh and yes trampolines. Me and Jump 360 don't get on too well

No I’ve never leaked a drop, even in the minutes after birth.

That’s not how it works that it’s at its worst in the minutes after birth 😂

Settingscouple · 15/06/2024 20:35

Yep I do- 1 child, forceps delivery. 2nd degree tear.

FatmanandKnobbin · 15/06/2024 20:38

8 births, babies all about 8/9lb, one forceps delivery with dozens of stitches, 7 births were vaginal, no intervention, now 44 and have never peed myself, could jump on a trampoline if I wasn't such a fat ass.

Mumoftwo1316 · 15/06/2024 20:41

I don't have urinary incontinence but I have the opposite problem, my pelvic floor is too tense (I think it's called hypertonic?) which gives me vaginismus, but also contributed to me having PGP in pregnancy. Basically my pelvic floor clenched too hard when I walked, because my joints were loose, giving me acute pain.

It still isn't quite better yet after dc2. Just a low level pain all the time, and worse when walking. After dc1 it took about a year to get better. I hope it'll be the same this time (rather than never getting better).

I guess I should be thankful I don't leak wee. But the pain is a problem

Edit - I had two c sections. Not a coincidence - my cervix just wouldn't dilate no matter how much they pumped syntocin into me so I had an EMCS with my first. I guess I'm just too tense to dilate!

Upsadiddles · 15/06/2024 21:04

I’m late 30s, 2 c sections. I have no issue with coughing, sneezing or trampolines, but at a certain few days in my cycle my bladder is noticeably weaker and if I delay going for a wee I can get sudden urgency on the way and not quite make it. It’s definitely worse since I had my second. Admittedly I haven’t always been consistent with pelvic floor exercises.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/06/2024 21:11

Yes. I'm absolutely religious with the pelvic floor exercises, but it doesn't seem to have helped...

mindutopia · 15/06/2024 21:12

Nope, no issues. I’ve had 2 (both very textbook natural births at home, so no intervention but 2nd degree tear both times). I was early and late 30s.

Sunshineclouds11 · 15/06/2024 21:13

1st forceps and episiotomy- I pissed myself for weeks
2nd straight forward birth - no issues

TheKingCobraIsNotStrictlySpeakingACobra · 15/06/2024 21:13

>>> Do you wee when you cough/sneeze/jump on a trampoline? Or similar.

Only jumping on a trampoline. Nothing else.

>>> And how many children do you have, what was your birth like?

Two, normal vaginal births. Both with tears. First one with episiotomy.

>>> I have one DC, vaginal forceps delivery. I don't have any urinary incontinence, however I was 18 when I had him.

I was 34 and 38.

>>> I'm finding myself worried about having more children, and the effects it will have on my body now that I'm not an elastic teenager!

Pelvic floor exercises!

Forgot 2nd degree tear with 2nd

MasterOfCake · 15/06/2024 21:16

Whilst a vaginal birth can add pressure, urinary incontinence is caused by simply being pregnant. The extra weight pushing down on your pelvic floor when pregnant is what causes problems. So the method of birth and any issues at birth is somewhat irrelevant.

But urinary incontinence is not ok and we shouldn’t tell ourselves it is just because it’s common after pregnancy. Any issues on that front and you must see a physio specialising in female health.

FussyPud · 15/06/2024 21:16

3 vaginal births, pretty sure my pelvic floor is a myth.

Allmarbleslost · 15/06/2024 21:16

Two vaginal deliveries and my pelvic floor is shot to shit essentially.

InTheRainOnATrain · 15/06/2024 21:17

2 ELCSs one in my late 20s, one in my early 30s, babies just under and just over 8lbs. No pelvic floor issues whatsoever, I don’t trampoline often being an adult and all but the one time I did after hitting the espresso martinis all was fine!

Lemonademoney · 15/06/2024 21:19

I’ve had four children plus one miscarriage all delivered vaginally one with some stitches after. I’ve never leaked and still run/jump on trampolines etc - I think as with most things it’s luck/genetics.

SkeletonBatsflyatnight · 15/06/2024 21:23

2 x emcs, one at full dilation after failed forceps. No issues whatsoever. Both babies were relatively small but I was 37 and 40 respectively.

One of my friends had an elective for her only child and can't trampoline or sneeze.

ManilowBarry · 15/06/2024 21:24

Two vaginal births in 1995 and 1998. No tears or stitches.

Never leaked or had any bladder issues. I have a wee in the morning and a wee of an evening except on very hot days when I drink more and I'll have a wee during the day.

PurBal · 15/06/2024 21:30

Urinary incontinence is not normal and whilst childbirth can “cause” it, if you suffer from it you should seek medical advice. I’m a leaking tap and there are lots of options: urogynecologist or specialist physio are a good place to start. There’s pelvic floor strengthening, injections, surgery, tampon-like things (temporary of course, like pads are temporary).

SackofSweets · 15/06/2024 21:36

My first forceps birth has given me a prolapse. I have stress incontinence and urgency issues. I wear a pessary which holds my uterus up and allows me to go about my life fairly normally. I wear period pants to help with leaks during HIIT workouts. I used to just piss myself but now it’s just the odd leak. I’ve had all the physio etc. it’s as good as it will ever get.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 15/06/2024 21:37

Nope no leaking. 1 child, vaginal delivery with episiotomy and forceps. I was 32 when i had her.

whereimfrom · 15/06/2024 21:39

2 EMCs, laboured to 10cm with them both and had a nicked bladder. But I have never leaked a drop, no issues at all.
I was 30 & 35 when I had them

EnglishBluebell · 15/06/2024 21:41

Yes!

Had Neville-Barnes forceps
