I crashed my car into a gate

I just drove down a narrow windy lane, hit a pothole lost control and smashed the left hand side of my car into a gate. I'm so upset 😭

Obviously it's my fault- insurance wise will I be entitled to a courtesy car? Or is that only for non fault accidents?

I'm also really really scared that this will be a write off- it's an electric car (a 2015 bmw i3) and likely very expensive to fix.

If anyone has any words of wisdom I'd really appreciate it. I'm in shock and also on the bones of my arse financially so this could not come at a worse time.

Oh no 😟 what a horrible shock. The courtesy car will depend on your insurance policy so have a look at that or give them a call.
If it's just the side panel that is damaged then hopefully it's salvageable. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Also maybe the local council will bear some liability because of the pothole??

Yes, you can check on the councils website to see if the pothole has been reported previously and if it has (and they haven’t fixed it within a decent time frame) you might have a claim.

Thank you both. It was on a private road not council property. It leads up to a sports club and I was attending a presentations
