Londoners - help! A transport question

Chickenkorma64 · 15/06/2024 15:36

Hoping you experts can help. DD and friends are going to see Taylor Swift at Wembley, but have (in ignorance) booked a hotel in GREENWICH!

They had no idea what a journey that would be. Can anyone suggest the best way to get between the two locations. If you live locally I’m hoping you have some hacks!

( I grew up in South London , but that was before the DLR and the Elizabeth line)

TIA

Straight run on the Jubilee line, I think.

ItsYourMoneyRalf · 15/06/2024 15:39

Yup jubilee line. Easy

LabradorVibe · 15/06/2024 15:39

Jubilee line runs from north Greenwich to Wembley Park, no changes.

It might be worth them putting the exact hotel location into Google maps and checking the route suggestion to Wembley, if their hotel isn't close to the tube

TangerineSloth · 15/06/2024 15:40

You should be able to take the Jubilee line from North Greenwich tube station to Wembley Park. I have done this journey to get to the theatre in Wembley and it's not quick but it is straightforward

zzplex · 15/06/2024 15:42

Which part of Greenwich? North Greenwich is on the Jubilee line but "proper" Greenwich isn't - that's DLR or overground train. And is it really Greenwich? Some so-called Greenwich hotels are closer to Deptford.

SmokeBlackCat · 15/06/2024 15:44

As others have said North Greenwich is on the Jubilee line. Greenwich proper isn’t but you’d probably be able to get a bus to North Greenwich tube.

It’s a long old trek from Greenwich to Wembley unfortunately. But can be done.

Chickenkorma64 · 15/06/2024 15:46

Thank you for your suggestions so far, DD has just updated me…

Added issue. DD is now telling me their travelodge is 55 minutes walk from North Greenwich station. Turns out it’s near Deptford station. (Right by where I went to school!).

Any good routes from there?

Overground from Deptford to Canada Water, then swap to Jubilee is probably the simplest

MistyMountainTop · 15/06/2024 15:48

Tell her to download the Citymapper app, that will be more use to your daughter both going and returning!

zzplex · 15/06/2024 15:49

Put it into TfL journey planner or Google maps. Actually, do both and compare the answers.

Besideourselves · 15/06/2024 15:49

Yes to Citymapper app!

Ilovemyshed · 15/06/2024 15:52

Walk to Deptford Bridge, DLR to Canary Wharf and jubilee line from there.

Ginmonkeyagain · 15/06/2024 15:52

Deptford Bridge DLR to Canary Wharf and then Jubilee line to Wembley.

Travelodge have some front calling that one Greenwich - it's right on Deptford Broadway!

Chickenkorma64 · 15/06/2024 16:09

Thank you all. I have passed on all your suggestions to DD.
in all honesty, it’ll probably take them longer to get back to the hotel after the concert than it would to get home! Hopefully they’ve got the stamina for it!

Plus, after any big event at Wembley it can take hours to just get into any of the local stations. They should check times of last trains.

longdistanceclaraclara · 15/06/2024 16:15

DLR to Canary Wharf and change to Jubilee line. Getting out of Wembley will be murder.

Turmerictolly · 15/06/2024 16:36

I think the Jubilee Line runs all night on a Friday and Saturday but the DLR doesn't.
