Boiler and renting

Hi all.

Looking for some advice please.

Our boiler is on. Thermostat off. But the radiators are all on and no hot water.

I have done everything. Checked the pressure. Restarted. Turned it off. Turned it off over night.

Still not working. Thisbhas happened a few times but always corrected itself. Told the boiler man when he serviced the other month. I said maybe it's the diverted valve. He said. No all ok. And to let them know when it happend again.

Well ofcourse. Its the weekend. The estate agents aren't answering the phone, emails or acknowledging the report on the app we have to use.

I spoke to someone on their online chat who said pH no sorry. I will send a message asking someone to call.

They close in 1 hour.

If I got an emergency plumber out, do they have to refund me?

I can't do the washing up properly and the kids all need a bath tomorrow ideally before school as do we!

Thanks

No hot water isn't an emergency, but fairly urgent. They should get a gas safe plumber to you on Monday.

In the meantime boil a kettle to wash up and stop worrying about kids having a shower/bath. Delaying for a few days won't kill them.

A homeowner can't wave a magic wand and get a plumber over the weekend, neither can a landlord.

If you choose to find one and get one out you will be responsible for the charge, but a generous landlord might offset some of the cost for you.

No it's not an emergency. But a child with incontinence issues means a shower is really needed. Not their problem I know. But I told them about this before and they refused to sort it until it happened again

Plus the landlord has a history of not repairing or delaying months on end. I'm just moaning and fed up really

If nothing happens Monday, contact Environmental Health. They are usually quite helpful and can apply some pressure.
