Mine has just read Hitler's Canary by Sandi Toksvig. They read another of her books about a family leaving Ireland for America after the potato famine in class. Can't remember what that one was called.

Now he's reading Anne of Green Gables and Children of the Noisy Village for the 10th time. He's feeling a bit anxious about the end of primary school coming up so he's going back to comfortable old favourites I think. I realise these are probably not common choices for 11 yr olds but they're working for him right now

I have a 12 yr old. Ones he has enjoyed this year have been:
The Final Year by Matt Goodfellow
All of the Hunger Games Books
The Young Adult version of Born a Crime by Trevor Noah.

Over the past year, my 11 year old has really enjoyed Rick Riordan books (starting with Percy Jackson, then moving to the other series), Impossible Creatures, the Adventures of Trains series and The Skandar trilogy. He has just asked for the Hunger Games books, but has also gone back to re-read the how to train your books, which were favourites when he was 8/9. He loves reading and has got some of friends into it with some of these suggestions.
