Advice on latest Covid strain

I was hoping to hear from anyone who has had Covid recently. I started to feel rough on Monday and by Tuesday was in a really bad way. Symptoms were high temperature, aches and pains, freezing cold despite having multiple layers on, headache, loss of appetite and a slightly sore throat and ear ache. As the days have gone by, I've expected to feel an improvement and thought I'd be back to normal by now.

I haven't had a headache today, and my ears and throat feel fine but I feel dreadful. My head feels like a concrete block that is heavy to hold up and when I sit or stand up I feel dizzy and like I might faint. Earlier this evening I felt like I was going to throw up so I went to the bathroom and while I was leaning over the toilet, lots of thin yellow liquid started pouring from my nose (it definitely wasn't snot or mucus), it looked exactly like bile.

It's these latest symptoms that are worrying me. I don't know whether they're just part of this new strain or whether I need to worry. Since Monday I've only eaten 2 slices of toast and a McDonald's cheeseburger (not ideal I know) and I'm wondering whether the way I'm feeling is due to my blood sugars. I've now scared myself by looking online and coming across starvation ketoacidosis. I'm not someone who suffers with health anxiety but I'm feeling really uneasy tonight.

It would be really interesting to hear from anyone who has had Covid lately so I know whether these symptoms are part of it Flowers

I'm on day 10 now I think. headache, cough, upset stomach,

the shivering has more or less stopped, and I have an oxygen monitor, and my sats have been fine

Aching muscles though, I struggle to sit or lie down in any position that isn't leaning on an aching muscle.

Very weak and wobbly when I stand up. I have been drinking oral rehydration sachets all week. This might help you?

GP has signed me off for a further 2 weeks which surprised me, but he seemed to think I would need that time to recover. That will mean nearly 4 weeks off in total

bozzabollix · 14/06/2024 23:04

I had it three weeks ago. I think it hits people differently. My nose literally streamed, slight sore throat, temp but not too high, felt weird and floaty, dizzy at times, like I had a pressure in my head and a very annoying cough, oh and lethargic. I had it worse last time. Still feel fatigued now but getting back to normal.

Hope you beat it soon, it’s horrible.

I’m sure you’ll be ok but call 111 if you’re worried, Dr Google is the giver of needless fear!

Had it recently, sore throat, felt tired for a few hours, then I was okay. No time off work or days in bed. Milder than the other times I have had it. Have loads of fluid.

sixtyandsomething · 14/06/2024 23:16

this is the worst time I have had it, definitely

Woahbodyforrrrm · 14/06/2024 23:35

Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I'm sorry to hear you've been clobbered by it too but I do feel reassured that there isn't anything more worrying going on.

I hope those of you with lingering symptoms feel back to normal soon.

Thank you all again Flowers

I had covid 3 weeks ago and all the symptoms went after 3 days apart from nausea and tiredness and they're still here 3 weeks later. I'm so sick of feeling sick...

Bristoluser · 14/06/2024 23:45

I completely went off food for about a week too but I forced myself to eat. I found muesli and sugar with a bit of milk was all I wanted so I ate lots of that. My appetite has returned but I'm completely off tea, coffee, alcohol and cheese - all my usual favourites!

Gaia2024 · 14/06/2024 23:50

This variant seems very very contagious, there are more people off at work with covid than ever before!

Ozgirl75 · 15/06/2024 04:19

I had it recently for the third time. It was just a sore throat and a sinus pain for me. I also felt tired and under the weather but not too bad. Kids also had it and they were fine, mild sore throat but didn’t have time off school.

Sounds like you have a sinus infection. Doctor may or may not give antibiotics as it could be viral. I'd be inclined to get a sinus rinse kit and try that.
