I'm struggling to find decent hygiene rating and review restaurants. I've been searching Italian, Chinese etc. One dc is quite fussy.

Difficult to say as 'central' is a fairly loose definition. I like TAS and Cote (several branches), as well as Wildwood.

TheOccupier · 15/06/2024 08:52

You might get more responses if your OP was a bit clearer. London has thousands of restaurants. Not sure what you mean by decent. What's your budget? Is it a special occasion? Lunch or dinner? How old are the DC? Where will you be? London's full of art galleries...

Pombearprincess · 15/06/2024 08:58

Which galleries ? The national gallery ? Tate Modern? There are loads in London spread all over? What type of good do you want ? Do you want food or more of an experience?

MavisTheMonkey · 15/06/2024 08:58

Fato a Mano Covent Garden does great pizza

Bills in Covent Garden is very child friendly

There are Zizzis and a Cote nearby which are reliable chains

Buns and Buns do nice dim sum

My kids love the ramen from Ippudo on Villiers St, we also like Bone Daddies

Intothevalley · 15/06/2024 08:59

Jose Pizzaro is basque (tapas style) and is based inside the Royal Academy (a gallery), we love it there. It's special, a little pricy, but not Michelin pricy.

Dishoom Covent Garden is an easy walk to the National and Narional Portrait Galleries.

Brindisa Borough Market is a quick walk to the Tate Modern.

Attictroll · 15/06/2024 09:02

Which bit of London, what kind of budget?

Rocknrollstar · 15/06/2024 09:11

Brasserie Zedel at Piccadilly Circus is the most wonderful French Brasserie (vegetarian available) if you can get a table. there is a reliable Italian on the corner of Leicester Square opposite the tube station on Charing Cross Road, No booking but you can usually get a table. A good chain is the Real Greek. There is on in St Martins Lane. There’s also a Browns. Have a look at Bella Italia - there are several in that area. There is also a Weatherspoons in Leicester Square which should suit children.

BigDahliaFan · 15/06/2024 09:17

we’ve found brasserie zedel fairly easy to get a walk in.

viet is great, you might have to queue. http://vietsoho.co.uk/ we found fussy people have liked it.

VIET Soho

Lovesstaggbeetle · 15/06/2024 09:20

I've never seen anything myself or the dc would like at brasserie zedel.

We like balthazar in Covent Garden but we have been a few times now.

Central ie around soho, Covent Garden yes the large natinal gallery.

I'd prefer a small chain or no chain.

Ave Mario?

TheOccupier · 15/06/2024 09:31

You sound hard to please so if you like Balthazar, just go there.

minipie · 15/06/2024 09:33

Sticks n sushi or Wahaca both have covt garden branches and are popular with my DC

LarryUnderwood · 15/06/2024 09:33

It would help to know what kind of food you and dc like.

Lovesstaggbeetle · 15/06/2024 09:38

@TheOccupier how so? I just don't want a chain I can go to in my home town?

Lovesstaggbeetle · 15/06/2024 09:39

@InTheRainOnATrain I looked at avo and it looks like it's gone down hill a bit poor reviews on ta

😂😂😂 Well played, @Rocknrollstar

youwouldthink · 15/06/2024 09:46

Cicchetti by San Carlo was pretty good when we ate there last weekend - tapas style Italian they recommend 2/3 dishes each. In Picadilly

Lovesstaggbeetle · 15/06/2024 09:47

@JurassicClark well played? How so?

Can a thread asking for restaurant recs really turn into a bitch fest? Really?

drawnfrommemory · 15/06/2024 09:49

Bancone? Not sure if they do a children's menu though.

This recent google reviews are all good and you’ll get the odd negative review for any restaurants because we all have different tastes and thr disgruntled are more likely to rant online. Finding somewhere with perfect reviews that suits your fussy eaters is probably a bit of a tall ask. Maybe go back to Balthazar if you know you all like it?

Lovesstaggbeetle · 15/06/2024 09:51

Under cooked pasta unfortunately and whilst I appreciate things unfortunately maybe under cooked they were not helpful at the time. As well as other issues...

I do understand how ta reviews work and how to sift through... I could forgive bad service or undercooked food as a few one offs if the business apologised or refunded.

Usually these threads are so helpful.

You have had a number of suggestions...... surely one or two might be worth investigating...?

Lovesstaggbeetle · 15/06/2024 09:55

@minipie @drawnfrommemory @youwouldthink

Thank you! I will look at those
