Has jet washing made me ill

Yesterday morning I spent a few hours giving my garden a well needed jet wash all my decking and paving. Took a few hours and apart from a sore hand afterwards I was ok.

Last night I started to get a sore throat whenever swallowing, which has by now turned into the start of some awful cold.
I've got a blocked nose, feel like I'm swallowing razor blades, and the start of a headache.

I thought back to when I was jet washing and some areas I did feel the splash back of water and some landed on my lip and a droplet flew into my eye. I'm convinced some ungodly bacteria has infected me and made me feel this way.

Could this be from jet washing or just an unfortunate coincidence?
Because now I'm wondering what parasite is in my body

You just did the unwise thing of spending a few hours outside in the British summer.

Catnipcupcakes · 14/06/2024 02:51

Sounds like a cold, OP. They can come on very suddenly.

If you’d been poisoned or infected with a parasite by the jet washing my common sense tells me a blocked nose, sore throat and headache would be unlikely to be the symptoms.

But seriously, that doesn't sound like a parasite, not at all. With the dark/damp/wet weather there's lots of common cold viruses around that wouldn't survive the summer sun.

It's probably just a cold, can happen anytime.

Those symptoms sound like the latest iteration of Covid. 🥺

I think it is unlikely but just to be on the safe side, I'm going to stop licking walls, (well, for the moment anyway).
