Getting to Launceston and Tavistock on the train from St Ives

Does anyone know how to get to Launceston and/or Tavistock from St Ives? Anyone done the journey? I know Google - and Trainline - might be my friend, but I hoped there might be people with more local knowledge. Thanks.

Neither of them have rail links any more.

The nearest you could get to would be Gunnislake station, although you might have to go all the way to Plymouth to get on that line, you could then get a bus from there.

Or you might have more options from Saltash station.

For Tavi, train to Plymouth and then bus. Just don't try to travel between 9 and 11pm, as IIRC, there's no bus at 10pm: there's a two hour gap.
