Average wait time for NHS MRI scan?

I’ve been referred for an MRI scan on my foot and I didn’t think to ask the consultant how long the wait would be.

I’ve been stuck with a bad foot for over 9 weeks now, x ray seems inconclusive so now getting an MRI, but just worried I might be waiting ages for it 😞

DS (2) waited 4 months for his this year but it was under general anesthetic. It was classed as 'non urgent' and they only did them one day a week but they got bumped if an urgent one needed doing.

That's horrifying! If I'd had to wait that long for my MRI I would have died before I got it.

DS (18) just had a non urgent MRI with contrast in 6 weeks.

Had a knee MRI within 2-3 weeks. Results back in 3 working days!

6-16 weeks for the scan, another 8 weeks for report, another 6 months for follow-up appointment

I'm horrified at the times people are waiting for the reporting/results 😳

I was referred for a head MRI about 5 wks ago and last week I had an appt through for this week - I was really surprised.

I was referred to neurology and was told it was a 9 month wait for an appt. But then they rang me with a ct scan appt for the next week. Results were back within 3 weeks. By the same consultant I had found privately online and was about to pay to see!
