35 and stuck in a rut

How do I get out of my life rut!

I'm 35, divorced. Single for 4 years, same job for 10 years. I stay due to it being childcare convenient. I'd like to get out dating but have no idea where to start. Dating is a shark pit.

I have tried to spice up my life, as it were. I am school Governor. I volunteer. Have a reasonable social life. I'm pretty busy but on a deeper level feel I've made next to no progress for years! Sometimes I'm fone with this. Sometimes I feel like I'm sort of drifting. It's not really what I'd envisioned life would be like. Which I know is probably the single stupidest thongs anyone ever said.

I think you're doing all the obvious things. When he's 11, you'll begin to unpeel from each other naturally and then you very hear you'll have more of a "life". You really are in the trenches. Do you know many other single parents? Being surrounded by mainly couple families doesn't help.
