How long would you leave a 12 and 14yo for in the evening?

Have the dinner with them, remind the bedtime routine, make sure I'm freely available on the phone to the 14 year old and head out to do whatever it is I'm up to.

Others will have different answers.

We left our 12 and 14 YO home alone a few weeks ago when we went 80 miles away to see a band.
They had their granddad on emergency contact if they needed him and we were in text/call contact the whole time. Left them at 6pm, got home at 1am - they were both fast asleep having ordered a pizza and played PlayStation together!

Depends on your DCs maturity though and if they get on....
