A few years ago a family member got into serious trouble whilst on holiday in Scotland (he lived in England at the time) and after pleading guilty, he was placed on the sex offenders register. I have had very little contact with him since this time, only twice when I was required to by SS.
I have been trying to find out whether this was reported in the press as I was under the assumption that all crimes were reported. Trouble is, I can't find anything. I know for an absolute fact it happened, he pleaded guilty, went to court, registered for 3 years, had probation etc. But to the outside world it looks like nothing has happened. It makes no odds to me either way, but there are other family members (trying to be vague as so not to out myself!) who would like to try for some sort of closure.
Is the fact that he lived in England whilst committing these despicable crimes in Scotland resulting in no public record?
