How many dwellings can you see from your home?

Just for casual interest. 'Dwellings' so we include flats and bungalows etc as well as houses.

From the back of my house - 21
From the front of my house - 44

I can probably see more when there are no leaves on the trees.

Plus I can see four tall tower blocks in the far distance so that's probably another 120 or so.

I’ll have to check again in the winter. Right now I can see 3 but I think I can see more when all the leaves are off the trees.

Reugny · 11/06/2024 15:03

From the room I'm sitting in at the back it is 2 plus a line of trees. (In winter when the leaves fall it will be about 6.)

From the front is a school.

I live in London also.

From the back - none.

None from the front. 4 from the back. Two of those are holiday lets and one is the house of a now deceased old lady. It's quiet around here!

I live in a three-story house on a hill in a hilly suburb overlooking the city, so there's a lot of houses, churches, the city centre, the river, the university etc.

TheSproutOfWrath · 11/06/2024 16:43

Absolutely none front, back or going out onto the track. The joys of rural Scottish living 🙂

CountryShepherd · 11/06/2024 16:44

Just one. The 'big house'. We live in what would have been the staff cottage. Usually a couple - wife was housekeeper, husband, the gardener.

WetBandits · 11/06/2024 16:48

None out the back, two out the front. It’s lovely 😂

I live in a tower block so can see for miles. Loads of houses/flats/tower blocks but then I do live in London!

I would love to have the view from a tall tower block in London. I may not like the rest of the lifestyle quite so much (I would miss having a private garden and the hectic crowds and traffic would be anxiety-inducing) but the view alone would keep me happily occupied.

I'm in a small cul de sac so can see 7 at the front. None out the back as there are hotel grounds behind me with large trees between them and me.

ElectiveAffinities · 11/06/2024 23:49

From the front - three
from the back - one in summer with full tree cover, maybe two in winter.

We're in a very tucked-away spot on the fringes of countryside, on the outskirts of a medium-sized town.

Hedgesfullofbirds · 12/06/2024 00:05

None -not a single one! Unless you count my chicken house and bee hives as 'dwellings'. I am a mile up a single track lane, surrounded by nothing but fields, not a sign of human infrastructure other than hedges, field gates and cultivated land. No traffic, no noise, no light pollution, perfect for me and absolute bliss

CarolineFields · 12/06/2024 00:07

hundreds more than I can count

PurplePolkaDot0 · 12/06/2024 00:09

Too many - I live on a hill and can see almost the whole city!

leccybill · 12/06/2024 00:09

From the front: none
From the back: about 10

Live on an ex-council estate with a beautiful protected wood opposite. Love it.

DilemmaDelilah · 12/06/2024 07:27

Sounds absolutely perfect!

West - one
North - none
East - three (in the Manor House to which our house was once the coach house)
South - a gazillion as we are on top of a hill and can see for miles. Nothing with half a mile or so though.

We are within the M25 but semi rural.
