What is it like to be a school receptionist in a secondary school?

I read online that primary school receptionists get a lot of phone calls daily that they cannot do other jobs. I read about a lady who said she wanted to quit as a receptionist because of the phone calls. Is this true for every primary school?
Is this the same experience for secondary school receptionists as well- too many phone calls daily?

It depends- there will be lots of calls, after all that’s literally what you are employed for, to answer the phone and greet visitors … whether you will have other tasks will depend on the school, but a good school will ensure you are aware of priorities
i know several people who are/have been school reception/office staff and they all really enjoy the role but say that it’s not easy
