Stupid question! I need to buy wood...

Hello, I need to buy some wood of a particular size to make a collapsible desk - where do I buy this???
I did say it was a stupid question (but I've never needed to know).

Local DIY shop? Mine cuts wood to size for free if you're buying it from them. I think they charge a cutting fee if you're not.

Builders merchant. They can usually give advice and deliver if it won’t fit in your car. There’s lots of smaller, local ones (I use ours and they’re very helpful), or national chains.

If you are after something nicer, try architectural salvage yards. They should have things like oak and mahogany etc, reclaimed from old buildings.
