Weird rash / hives / other?

Apologies, I know we shouldn't ask opinions of strangers etc etc on the internet, and I will be booking an appointment at my GP tomorrow, but just for peace of mind as of course have asked Dr Google who is suggesting I'm going to die overnight......

any ideas what this could be?? It's on my back, maybe 4cm ish across?

Literally suddenly appeared maybe 3 days ago? Thought maybe I'd had an itch, scratched it, then it got irritated by my bra strap or something.... but it doesn't seem to be going away?

any ideas to at least try and calm my brain tonight?

Weird rash / hives / other?

Oooh OP I’m sorry but that looks like shingles to me. I had it before Christmas and it was very painful.
(I hope I’m wrong for your sake, and it is just a mystery rash of some sort)

Edited to add - mine started in exactly the same place, across my back, half under the bra strap.

Looks like shingles, and hopefully a very small outbreak

Oh crikey. Where the hell have I picked that up from?? Had chickenpox as a young child.... I thought you only got shingles as an adult if you had low immune system or were elderly etc

Phone GP first thing make it clear that it looks like shingles and you need to be seen because it's a small window for antiviruls

Thanks everyone

Definitely looks like shingles to me. Identical to when I had it. I got shingles as a super fit (as in daily gym, weightlifting runner) person with absolutely no immunity or health issues.

ToxicChristmas · 09/06/2024 21:15

I had antivirals for mine (Aciclovir) and it was gone for me within a week ish. They made me feel shit though unfortunately, but definitely did the job.

Shingles or impetigo.

Gilead · 09/06/2024 21:19

My first thought was als Shingles. I had it last year.

greengreyblue · 09/06/2024 23:11

It can just recur OP. Google it.
DH had it as a fit 35 year old. Was very painful as was around his eye.

Well you are all completely correct!, GP just confirmed shingles and got to take some
tablets 5x a day for a while.

thank you all for calming me last night!
