Asda shop late

i booked a slot for between 9am and 11am and it’s looking like they won’t arrive until between 11:46 and almost 12:46, it is 11:36 and they are 8 stops away, I know these times are unreliable. I was going to have a bath and other things that I can’t do if they’re just going to turn up and my routine has been thrown off and I need my routine to stay regulated. Is there some compensation if I phone Asda?

I think if it's unusual of them then it's best to try and be understanding that these things happen, you never know what has caused the delay. Does it really matter if you have a bath an hour later? I'm not being condescending just thinking if you can reframe it a bit in your mind it might not be as frustrating for you. But yes, they should probably refund the delivery cost.

It does because I need my routine to stay regulated, I feel disgusting, am still in my pyjamas, can’t get dressed until I’m clean and don’t feel comfortable or awake enough to get on with my day because of it, I’ve been waiting for it since 9am, that is a significant amount of my day wasted.

Ring them up and ask. It's worth a try. Tesco call centre is very good and would probably offer a voucher or something..I can't see why Asda would be significantly different.

Ring them, I have before and I got free delivery for a month!

Maverickess · 09/06/2024 11:50

Depends if it's bad management of the deliveries as in the timescales were unreasonable or it's circumstances beyond anyone's reasonable control like an accident or similar that the driver has been delayed by.

Bad management then yes, there should be some redress but sometimes life happens, and you can be affected by it directly or indirectly and it's inconvenient but no one is at fault, they haven't done anything wrong, it's part and parcel of life blaming others solves nothing.

Even if 8 stops takes 5 mins each as a minimum, you can still have a bath in 40 mins?

frozendaisy · 09/06/2024 12:00

Like a PP has said it's better to remain understanding with the delivery driver. They are probably going to be late off their shift with many cross customers and the rest of their day's plans could be ruined as well.

Anything could have happened, road accident, late packers, who knows.

You can try calling Asda they might refund the delivery charge.

Perhaps you could in the future think about an alternative delivery slot, Saturday evening perhaps, so you can get your groceries and it not disrupt your bathing routine again.

It’s turned up now and yes, but the amount of stops has never been correct so it’s hard to know when they’ll actually turn up. Last weeks said 16 stops away and it turned up within minutes .

Get on with your day in old clothes as theres no time to go out anyway. Have a shower and dress properly afterwards.

In a few hours time the fact you were in old clothes for 40 minutes earlier won't be an issue.

Needmorelego · 09/06/2024 12:18

They won't have been running late for the fun of it.
Sometimes these things happen.
It's annoying but sometimes things will be out of your control and out of the delivery driver's control.

Gcsunnyside23 · 09/06/2024 13:22

If it's stressing you out not being washed and ready then get up before 9 and be ready before it's due to arrive.

fieldsofbutterflies · 09/06/2024 13:25

Why didn't you get up and get showered and dressed before 9am?

If you’re someone who can’t handle their routine being out of whack (I’m the same, no shade here!) then if you’re able I would suggest changing to click and collect. I do the same with parcels now too. I hate waiting for someone and I like to control when I collect things instead of worrying about missing the bell, needing a wee etc.
