Cooked on the " best before " date. 48 hours later, can still smell it.

Why 😂

Cadela · 08/06/2024 19:33

Can still smell what? Have you left it in the pan for 2 days?

Sunnycoffeedrinker · 08/06/2024 19:35

Just wondering why somebody would post that 😂

I think because one wouldn’t expect Waitrose fish to be off before the best before date. I would call customer services OP. They’ll probably give you a voucher.

BizzyOldFule · 08/06/2024 19:43

You cooked it and ate it?

eggplant16 · 08/06/2024 20:41

It was just about ok to eat, but fresh fish should not be lingering in a well ventilated space for days.

So you cooked it, ate it and presumably there were ill effects? Do you think that maybe there’s nothing wrong with the fish and the only problem is you didn’t ventilate the kitchen adequately or clean up after yourself properly?

I very much did clean up properly. My thoughts are if, Ive cooked fresh fish, there might be a bit of a smell for an hout or 2. That it.

Sunnycoffeedrinker · 08/06/2024 21:01

Egg plant ,yeah prob 😂or just something to start a convo about lol

Paninaro94 · 08/06/2024 21:07

Do we think the it should not smell, on account of it being from Waitrose? I’ve heard their customers think their shit doesn’t stink but not their fish

eggplant16 · 08/06/2024 21:10

Okey Dokey. I quite like fish, fresh doesn't smell. This smelt bad.We ate it, no ill effects but the smell lingers for days ie its not good , despite the dollar.

Different from where I work one of the staff actually stunk of shit ,well the chair did when he had finished 😂😂

Dearg · 08/06/2024 21:14

I am nowhere near a Waitrose, but my experience of supermarket fish is that the best before dates are very optimistic, especially if the fish is encased in plastic. It’s going to stink.

Buy from a wet fishmonger. Eat it on the day or latest day after you buy it. Fresh fish does not / should not smell.

BoobyDazzler · 08/06/2024 21:15

Fish always makes a house stink imo. I rarely cook it because I can’t bear the lingering smell!
