Did anyone go to Taylor Swift at murrayfield last night? I'm going on Sunday and have few questions!

Oh! I'm going tonight and I had a question too!

mine was logistics- how long did it take to get into stadium? We're not standing so don't need to be there at 4pm and am happy to arrive during Paramore - was thinking of getting to seats for 6:30 so just trying to plan timings of leaving city centre

themurkyera · 08/06/2024 08:25

Our local radio station was live from the Murrayfield hotel which is across the road from the stadium yesterday and the DJ said he was going tonight with his kids. He said he’s been watching and was definitely going to wait until 6 ish to head in. They were talking that the crowd level came right down outside the stadium at that time and he said he’d be able to pretty much just walk straight in.

He did say that the atmosphere was brilliant with everyone in high spirits getting into Murrayfield but that it was massively busy.

I'm so excited about the concert but nervous about getting out afterwards. I'm going with my DD10 and I've never been to Edinburgh.
We're staying at The Village hotel near Crewe Toll, I think we need to get a tram into the city and then a bus!
My questions are:

  • my DD wants a T-shirt, I presume they are £££ at the stadium itself? Are there unofficial sellers outside or in the city centre for cheaper? Any idea of prices?
  • how bad was the tram getting home? Will I be able to get a bus back to Crewe Toll from the city even if it's after midnight? Is it safe for a lone woman and kid?
  • any other tips?

Tshirts were £40, £20 for knock offs outside afterwards.

Trams/buses looked crazy, I would walk back into the city then try get a bus back out. Its very safe, concert goers everywhere and lots of police

We arrived about 5 and had a bit of confusion finding the right entry point, had to walk a long way the queue. Once we got drinks, merch and been to the toilet we'd missed paramore and just made it in time. So I'd leave more time, or come after the rush. You can get merch afterwards and there was no queue then.

There was a big bottle neck coming out by the trams as the walkers go that way, I'd be nervous with little kids so I'd wait a good while or put them on shoulders, or make a slightly early exit. It's just very crowded and easy to get pushed/separated.

Have an amazing time! Cannot believe the show was 3 hours 21 mins yet it went by so fast. Just incredible

Don’t wait for the tram after the concert. Just walk. It’s just as quick. How is your DD at walking? Your hotel isn’t that far. It would take about an hour to walk to the stadium. When you come out of the stadium, I’d head towards Queensferry Road which is definitely walkable. You’d pick up a taxi there if done in and don’t want to do the rest of the way on foot. That will take the same amount of time waiting on the tram back to the city and then a bus down to your hotel. The tram is brilliant but slow so you are honestly as quick walking. Otherwise, follow the crowd back to the city centre and pick up a bus or a taxi back to your hotel from there.

Merch wise it’s about £45 for a t shirt and £65 for a jumper.

NotPennysBoat · 08/06/2024 08:55

Thank you that's really helpful. We're actually in hospitality so can hang around for a bit after the concert to let the crowds go. She's a good walker but after 3 hours of dancing I'm not so sure!!

She wants a T-shirt to wear at the show, so we need to get that first really. Unofficial is fine!

The trams going home were crazy. We were in the west Stand so walked to Balgreen rather than wait at Murrayfield and it was a squeeze to get on.

Take tissues and hand sanitizer - toilets were disgusting from about half way through

It was cold so take a jacket (girl in front of me had a blanket with her!)

if you have restricted seats don't worry. The view is great you only really miss out on Folklore/ Evermore sections but if you are in West seating you get to see Paramore coming off and Taylor being snuck in

Kazeragi · 08/06/2024 09:19

Does anyone know what Westfield Rd is like to walk down after the concert? Safety wise with wee kids? We want to walk down towards Balgreen Rd/Gorgie Rd.

themurkyera · 08/06/2024 09:27

I am sure Westfield Road is closed to traffic this weekend so you should be fine. I suspect all areas will have a lot of people walking. It will be well policed too

Kazeragi · 08/06/2024 09:33

Thank you!

Kazeragi · 08/06/2024 09:34

Someone said on Facebook that Gorgie Rd was a traffic nightmare last night mind you!

Follow the crowds back into the city centre. At the West End you can get a bus to Crewe Toll from Queensferry Street. Will only take 10-15 minutes from there on the bus and the bus stop is literally across the road from your hotel near the Shell garage.

I’ve just seen a few tik toks from might 1. The biggest bit of feedback was how cold it was even for those standing. People thought there would be body warmth but there wasn’t.

ApolloandDaphne · 08/06/2024 13:30

My DD and her friend left as the final song started to make sure they could get the tram to where DH was waiting for them. People who left after she finished took ages to get out of the stadium.

PiggyPlumPie · 08/06/2024 13:33

My girls walked rather than get the tram.

It was a touch chilly.

They've managed to get tix for tonight and are wearing jeans and hoodies!

Jasharps · 09/06/2024 13:50

We walked down Westfield Rd (3 DDs 9,10,12) and got a bus to park n ride on Gorgie Rd. We were at our car before midnight. Waited a bit after Karma but crowds were steady not scary.

We arrived at 6 just as paramore went on and walked straight in.

We were in South and not cold, had jackets off during Taylor. Only cold waiting at bus stop later.

You'll have the best time.
