My DD just had a cracking 'misheard lyric'

She's 11 and I'm tidying the kitchen with a random mix on and Britney Spears Toxic was playing and DD is sort of mumbling along and she says
"And I love what you do
Don't you know Sandy Toksvig?"

I had to clarify what she said. Yup.
We're big GBBO fans 😅🤣

My 16 yr old DS completely misheard Marillion's Kayleigh and thought Fish was singing about "Thomas Gates from Moonlight College halls". He thought some bloke called "Thomas Gates went to a uni called Moonlight College with Kayleigh, and was asking her if she remembered him 😂

I said " why on earth would there be a university called Moonlight College?" and he said "Well, I don't know, I thought MARMILLION were American and they have weird college names there"

"Marmillion" just killed me 😅

Dd has a slight hearing impairment and thought the words to Rocking Around the Christmas Tree were 'later we'll have some fucking pie' and used to miss that line out so as not to swear. When I asked her why she thought that was in a Christmas song, she said 'I don't know, I thought maybe she really didn't like pie'.
She also misheard deck the halls with boughs of holly, as deck the halls with thousands of horses.

Ohhh this reminds me of when I saw dd who was about 3 at the time, sat in the kitchen singing her little heart out to Ed Sheeran castle on the Hill.. She was going through a sea creature obsession at the time, particularly loved stingrays, and was singing to her cuddly toy ray "swimming, you tiny dancer, and I'm Mister Ray, you make me feel, it's real!" she genuinely thought the song was about her toy "Mister Ray" the stingray 🥹

My then five year old, would belt out ‘ kicking your cats all over the place’.
