iPhone charging cable going funny!

I hear this is quite a common fault with iPhone chargers, that they go faulty and only charge the phone when the cable is at a certain angle, unfortunately mine is now starting to do that and it is really annoying me, given how expensive they are!

Are Samsungs like this? I’ve been predominantly an iPhone person, but the time my next upgrade is due I’m considering getting a Samsung for the first time in a long time as this is really annoying me!

Ive never had this problem with an iPhone. Are you using an apple charger?

WonderingWanda · 07/06/2024 17:02

All cables do this if they get a kink in them it's not specific to iphones.

Nat6999 · 07/06/2024 17:03

I have a Samsung phone & keep at least one brand new charging cable in stock at all times, I have found the right angled ones last longer than the straight ones as they don't bend as they go into the metal part.

I wouldn’t buy a new phone because of this, id get a new cable. The Amazon own brand ones are good. Are you lightning

or the newer sort USBc? Anker is good

The premium cables are fine. You can also get cable protectors to protect the flex point of the cable or get a MagSafe wireless charger!

I had two Amazon premium ones that lasted years and just replaced with a belkin one from TK Maxx!mwoeth playing able mkr w

I had that problem it was fluff and shit in charging port cleaned it with on of those little brushes you use In between your teeth

It's not unique to Apple, it's just what happens when cables get bent and wear down over time.

Cas112 · 07/06/2024 17:50

I've never had this issue

It's mainly when you don't keep the cable straight/bend it where it's put in, makes the wires inside loose

Just need to look after your charger a bit better

uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/06/2024 23:17

This will happen with any cable over time as it gets bent and twisted over time
I have an iPhone and I like Anker soundcore cables for durability

Ha hah! I've just had exactly that with my phone. I'd been putting a twist into the cable and a couple of weeks ago, noticed all the crap in the charging port.

I used a pair of tweezers for the first lump, then a toothpick.

This is probably the problem. “Murder” a paper clip 😀 and clean out the port with it. Cables get bent and badly treated and don’t last forever. I travel a lot for work and always carry a spare. It’s certainly not worth changing a phone for.

Aposterhasnoname · 09/06/2024 06:36

Does your phone have magsafe? if so get one of those chargers, you’ll never have a problem again.

FrogsWormsandCaterpillars · 09/06/2024 07:23

I’ve never brought an apple charger, just get one from Amazon. I brought a 3 pack months ago for me and DD and had no issues.
