im looking into trialling ozempic or similar, and would like to get an idea of what difficulties it can cause

ive heard there are mixed reviews on weight loss/ amount of weight loss but its hard not to focus on the positive stories.

has anyone tried a weight loss injection? what were some negative/unknown side effects? and did you stop taking the meds?

I tried Mounjaro recently, lasted about 3 weeks and had to stop as it gave me terrible reflux and gastric issues

Upinthenightagain · 07/06/2024 14:45

I tried ozempic last year but I had terrible diarrhoea on it that would always hit in the early hours of the morning for some reason. I started mounjaro 4 weeks ago and have had no issues so far beyond a bit of tiredness which could well be small children related

I am going to buy something this weekend. I don’t know what or where from but I’m so fed up of failing all weight loss things in the last 20 years.

I tried Saxenda (Liraglutide) about 3 years ago. I had to inject it daily. I was OK for the first couple of weeks,no nausea or upset stomach, but I was starting to feel lethargic and totally drained of energy. Apparently this is one of the less common side effects. After 4 weeks I had to stop taking it as I had absolutely no energy, felt awful.
Thankfully within 3 days I was back to normal. I have also tried Ozempic (Semaglutide) which I had to inject only once a week. I got on much better with this one,no side effects apart from constant burping after about 4 weeks, which thankfully only lasted a week or so. I managed to lose 14 pounds in 12 weeks on this, but unfortunately couldn't keep it up because of the cost.

I had a bad reaction to saxenda
Non stop cramping and vomiting till it wore off. Never tried a 2nd dose.

Have you tried keto, fast 800?

I've lost 10lbs in 10 days.

I took them for 6 weeks lost 3/4 stone, no side effects other than tiredness.
but I stopped because I couldn’t afford to continue and weight went back on. But it was lovely not to be thinking about food all of the time ….

how much other weight loss methods were you trying at the time?

do you wish you could continue on them long term?

3 weeks into ozempic I was violently sick and then had such bad diarrhoea I was going to the toilet every 5 minutes and couldn't even keep water down without being sick.

I was on the brink of hospitalisation from dehydration but thankfully after 36 hours started improving.

It's bloody expensive too.

ApplesonTuesdays · 08/06/2024 14:31

I'm on mounjaro and the negatives on the 2.5mg dose was the 2 days following the injection. I would be freezing cold and really tired. The first couple of weeks I would be really wiped out. I kept going and this has settled. I've lost 2 stone in 10 weeks. Half way there!

thanks for your response, sorry it didn’t work out. how did you know this wasn’t a stomach bug?

It's hard to explain but it definitely wasn't a bug.

Started shortly after third dose. Husband wasn't ill. We ate exactly the same.

It was projectile vomiting and very greasy stools. It was definitely the ozempic.
