Facebook showing messages but nothing there

My Facebook says I have 2 messages but I don't.
I've checked message request and spam but still nothing.
I've clicked on the last few messages going back a couple of weeks to see if someone has liked something in an old message but still nothing and it's still showing 2 messages

Please help it's driving me mad

Me too. Normally I can clear it by checking the security notifications, but that isn’t working. I have 4!

It may be Instagram messages. Mine shown up as FB ones now!

For me this was when someone had liked a message and I hadn't clicked it open. So annoying as it's really not clear which message it was.

What I mean is that it didn't have a reply message they had just given my last message a 👍

I'ts so annoying!
