Can anyone advise about Premium Bonds after a death please?

My father passed away last summer and he had premium bonds.
We filled out the forms about 6 weeks ago and yesterday the invested amount was paid back into the executor account.

How do we know if his bonds had won anything since his passing? The website isn’t exactly clear, just saying that any prizes are paid as a warrant.

Do we have to reapply for any prize money or will it be sent to me (the executor) as a warrant in the post? I’ve tried phoning but it’s difficult to get through to them.

If anyone can advise I’d be grateful

Did he definitely have it set up to take winnings as money? When I win it automatically buys me more bonds to the value of the win.

Yes, any winnings were paid into his bank account. We’ve been repaid the original invested amount.

It may have been that he didn’t win anything over the past 10 months but that would be unusual, he usually won something every month or so (small amounts)

Yes the winnings are held in a separate (frozen) account, then they are paid to the requestor by individual cheques for each winning. Depending on how many times he has won there may be quite a few cheques. This comes after the primary bonds have been transfered.

Thank you. Will I need to reapply for these cheques or now that the primary account has been paid they’ll be sent automatically?

My mums were cashed in and she'd won £50 from her final draw, we didn't know until they sent a further payment to her account with a letter.

We kept DDad's bonds in for 12 months after he died (which you are allowed to do). As soon as probate was granted (about 6 months after he died) we received a chunk of warrants for winnings over the previous 6 months then received warrants each month for winnings until the end of the 12 months when the stake was paid to the beneficiaries.

No I don’t think you need to reapply, ours followed after for our DMum.

My DF had some Premium Bonds and we were excited to see how many, imagining decades of wins.

He had not won a sausage.
