Apparently it’s a shortening of She Inside and so is pronounced She In, not Shine.

(That said, Shite is a better description of their products and business model)

Am I the last person in the world to find this out, or is it a revelation to anyone else?

Don't care what they're called or how it's pronounced.

Nobody should support them.

Andanotherone01 · 06/06/2024 09:22

My mum called it Shite!

FIouncer · 06/06/2024 09:22

You were calling it shine?

snuckle · 06/06/2024 09:23

I think you are the last person in the world to know that

Generally if you want to be credible when you object to something it’s a good idea to know how to say its name, I’d have thought?

Yes. I’m a bit like that mad Baby Reindeer woman who kept saying “hyperbowl”.

Can say I ever heard it said, only read it.

I always pronounce it "shane" in my head...

Devilsmommy · 06/06/2024 09:26

I call it sheen

MaryMack · 06/06/2024 09:26

However it’s pronounced, I will never buy from there. Cider is a similar clothing company, cheap clothes made in China. I won’t buy from there either.

I like charity shops, Vinted and eBay for second hand clothes, shoes and bags. The only clothing I buy new is underwear and socks.

FIouncer · 06/06/2024 09:29

I've only heard

She-in or sheen

Shine and Shane are new ones😂

Would never buy from there anyway

Nope, I didn't know until I read this thread. Not going to call them She In, it looks like it should be a German word to me. I think the few people I've heard say it pronounce it that way, too (like "shine").

PieonaBarm · 06/06/2024 12:19

I think it's meant to be a shortening of She In-Style, so She-in.

No, it was originally She Inside. I read it in Tuesday’s London Evening Standard. Article pic below.
