Beautiful gift needed- SIL

sunlovingcriminal · 05/06/2024 15:22

My SIL is taking our wedding photos in a fortnights time. She is a wedding photographer, and wants no payment, but I'd like to get her a beautiful gift to thank her. She's early 50s, ethereal and I think she is a beautiful person inside and out!

She has titian colour hair, so I often get her green accessories for birthdays and Christmas. She has sensitive skin so I tend to shy away from skincare products.

I can afford up to about £100.

Hit me with ideas!

If £100 is what she can afford though...

ssd · 05/06/2024 15:50

Dont be so mean, the op says she can afford up to £100 and her SIL is willing to do it for nothing!

God this place sometimes

There are some lovely fused glass ornaments on Etsy, I got my mum one and she loves it they come at different price points for different sizes. You can also get outdoor ones.

lovelydayIhave · 05/06/2024 16:08

Hand painted scarf.

Earrings with necklace.

What does she likes?

Scissorsisters · 05/06/2024 16:10

A robe from One Hundred Stars would be suitably ethereal.

Please don't judge how much I have to spend on this, I really think it is the thought that counts and not the price. It is a second time round wedding, in a registry office. Less than 10 people there. Entire wedding is cheap as chips. We don't really have much spare cash; I could see if I could sell some magic beans?!! SIL has offered to do it, I did offer to pay, and her response was "absolutely not, wouldn't know what to do with myself if I wasn't behind the camera".

As I said a beautiful person.

Thank you to all for the helpful suggestions... these are brilliant, and I think some may really be up her street.

Your suggestion is spot on. I've just had a peruse and she would love one of these I'm sure. Thank you so much for the idea!

Ignore any negative responses. She obviously wants to gift the wedding photography to you. I'd offer to pay for the actual photos but it's lovely of her.

whatageareyou · 05/06/2024 16:37

Actually I was just moved by your clear love for her, how lucky she is to get you as a sister in law Smile ignore the money grabbing comments (although I have no recommendations for you!6

Nomorecoconutboosts · 05/06/2024 16:41

What a lovely thread (ignoring the one or two exceptions)
some beautiful present ideas already
All the best for your wedding day and wishing you a long and happy marriage

And that is also much appreciated.

Neither of us have plans to wed for a third time, so this better be it 😆!

Fair enough - second time around you probably wouldn’t want the full package of photos (not that I had that for my one and only wedding). The robes people have suggested seem to be very appropriate.

This is a good idea, you don’t want to get an ornament because then she will feel that she has to display it whether she likes it or not.

Please ignore the now deleted poster. What a lovely gift from your Sil, and the robe sounds lovely

Well, I did then respond that in the circumstances, it sounds fine for a few photos of a second time around wedding that is going to be low-key.

AutumnCrow · 06/06/2024 02:19

Those robes/gowns/kimonos are great! Thanks for the ideas 🙂

Actually I think that's fair. SIL has done this as a wedding gift. So it wasn't budgeted for.

How about some scarves 🧣 ? Or what about something from your fiancé that would have special significance?
