Bloodhound nose is driving me insane

Help!

Over the last few years (it's got to be hormones), my sense of smell has gone into overdrive. It's become so sensitive that I seem to smell things (usually unpleasant) that no one else can. It's driving me nuts!

Mostly I can walk away and forget or grin and bear it if needed but right now my house stinks. My husband can't smell it. Neither can anyone else (or so they say).

We don't have pets or kids. It just smells really strongly of 'body' to me, not BO as such but musty and lived in, especially upstairs. It's worse on warm days. I'm washing everything frequently and opening windows all day. I've cleared cupboards and washed anything in there that I can. Bicarb of soda/Febreeze on the carpets. Sealed things in bags/boxes and even changed our showergel to a soap that's supposed to remove "old people" odours. But it persists and is getting worse.
I've also used incense and oil burners and even a plug in (which I don't much like) but they are only temporary relief.

Does anyone have any ideas for how I can get a handle on this? Anyone else experience this? Maybe I need supplements to calm whatever hormone is doing this (I'm already on HRT)? Or maybe I just have to stuff tissues up my nose...

Following with interest, I'm 46 and for the last year I've been exactly the same, it's so irritating.

I have this, I have had it constantly since a severe HG pregnancy. I have to use vicks a lot, and I also carry a small bottle of Neom pillow spray with for emergencies! I also have massive issues with body sprays, perfumes, anything scented at all - except Neom products in small doses. I cannot use public transport at all - it makes me ill due to all the smells! When DH had a beard it 'trapped' smells and make be gip! You have my sympathies.

Thank you, I'm glad I'm not the only one but you both have my sympathies!
I recall friends saying their sense of smell went crazy when they were pregnant so it has to be hormones I think, but I'm not sure I can stand years of it. Vicks is an option (good idea) but I'm paranoid that my house stinks 😕

Me too, but not all the time thankfully. The only smell that can sometimes make it bearable is fresh lemon. Definitely not the bottled lemon juice 🤢

Ahhhh fresh lemon! When I was pregnant I genuinely kept a cut lemon in the fridge at all times so I could open the tub and take a deep sniff when needed!

me too but always had it but worse now as in early 60's - family gets ticked off with me

Yes, the lemon is a hangover from HG. I used to keep a couple on my bedside table and everywhere else really.
