Wisdom tooth extraction

I'm having all 4 wisdom teeth extracted soon under general anaesthetic.

Has anyone been through this, what was the recovery like and how long did it take?

I've got holidays coming up over the summer and I don't know whether to agree a date that is shortly before a holiday or how much time to leave?

The only issue I had was a really sore and stiff jaw for a couple of days. However, I'd leave it until after the holiday or at least 2-3 weeks before as you need to be careful about eating for a while afterwards and getting all 4 out will make that a bit more tricky (I only had 2 out on the same side).

@OchonAgusOchonOh Thanks for the reply, that's what I thought more or less.

It takes me a week to get over a GA. Your jawbones are going to really hurt. Stock up on panadol and ibuprofen as they can be taken together.

Your jaw will swell so opening your mouth for perhaps ten days or more is going to be a problem. Definitely soups or purees for the first few days and then easy stuff for the next few.

Don’t get good photos taken because of the swelling. Not a time for going out in public.

You may have stitches or you may have holes. Stock up on salt for mouthwashes.

I had all 4 of mine taken out on my lunchbreak and went back to work in the afternoon. (I was 25 though) I can't remember any effects afterwards. Obviously you will have to recover from the general anaesthetic

I'm having exactly the same thing done on Sunday, all 4 out under GA.

I've never been under before either so I'm interested to know about the teeth and anaesthetic recovery, especially as I have a walking 1 year old..

I have been told that clove oil is a must and helps more than painkillers!

DP had this done recently. Mushy food only for the first 3-4 days so make sure you're stocked up beforehand. Nothing hot on the first day and nothing through a straw.
Took about a week for the swelling and bruising to go down. No real pain afterwards but he was diligent about taking painkillers at regular intervals as instructed.
