It's June !! Forecast where I am this week (midlands) cloud and rain - highs of 16
No wonder my mental health is the way it is, a little vitamin D would be nice !!

Apparently it’s coming, massive heatwave heading our way in the next few weeks.
Tbh, I’d rather have grey clouds and rain than a heatwave.
Why can’t we have a nice pleasant comfortably warm summer? It’s all or nothing in this country.

Oh really? I read the other day that the whole summer was going to be a wash out!

fieldsofbutterflies · 05/06/2024 08:08

Are we going to have threads like this every single day? Grin

Watercoloursky · 05/06/2024 08:11

Beautiful blue skies and sun here this morning on the south coast (near Brighton)

Menomeno · 05/06/2024 08:14

Yesterday was wet and cold. It’s already battered down this morning and we’ve got highs of 14 to look forward to later and high winds for the next three days! The days are going to start getting shorter by the end of this month and we’ve barely seen the sun here yet.

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 05/06/2024 08:14

@scalt unless you have not read a paper for 15 years it's climate change not global warming. The average temperature this year has been warm just very dull and rainy.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/06/2024 08:19

The leaves were coming off the trees yesterday as I walked to work - in the rain obviously

Plump82 · 05/06/2024 08:21

There's snow forecast for the north of Scotland this week and I could quite believe it here in the West Coast. I'm under my heated blanket and had a hot water bottle in bed last night if was so cold!!

IDoLikeToBeByTheSea · 05/06/2024 08:21

Bright and sunny where I am in the North West

This is exactly my point. Say it, people believe it. The doomsayers say whatever fits their agenda, when the reality is that nobody can predict more than two weeks ahead. 80% of statistics are made up on the spot, or whatever the made-up figure is. Spin spin spin.
Bad weather: climate change.
Good weather: the earth is burning to a crisp, worst drought ever. (I have my bingo card ready for someone saying drought this summer, as if the very wet spring never happened. Ditto other scary buzzwords like “unprecedented”.)
I remember the dark red weather maps of that “the world is ending” summer, compared with the green maps of similar temperatures from years before.

Nobody knows whether the weather (pun intended) this summer will be great or not. But “influencers” like to say one extreme or the other.

Wet until the end of June, no heatwave predicted as of yet.

Yes until the sun comes and stays out for longer than an hour 😆

@fourelementary we were in Gran Canaria a few weeks ago and it was really cloudy
The first day I actually said "I'm chilly "
For unusual for the canaries

vacay · 05/06/2024 08:23

fourelementary · 05/06/2024 08:08

Abroad just now and instead of high 20s as expected it’s bloody cloudy and going to rain over the weekend. In the canaries!!! 🤷🏻‍♀️😳

Oh no !! I'd be fuming ! Hopefully it'll change, it usually does abroad quite fast doesn't it

If you read MSN weather articles from the likes of the Mirror, Express and GB News (my recommendation - don't) from October-April we're threatened with 'snow bombs' and from April-October with 'heatblasts' and 'roasting.' There's no middle way of nice summer temperatures or mild winters.

SoupDragon · 05/06/2024 08:37

Actually, I can see the sun here today! It's a true miracle!

I hate it when people/weather forecasters describe 18/19/20c as scorching weather or a heat wave. Above 28c is hot, above 34c is hot. A few days of 20c is neither a heatwave nor scorching.

Remember the heatwaves in the 80s and 90s, the heatwave during lockdown. We had weeks/months of no rain or very little. You woke up and it was already 20c and you knew it wasn't going to rain, the water butts were empty.

The last few summers have been rubbish, I'm stuck in the "which jumper shall I wear today" cycle.

CharlotteBog · 05/06/2024 08:52

Sun is out here (Essex).
[gets ALL the washing on the line!]

Deathraystare · 05/06/2024 09:10

It looks nice and sunny at the moment in my art of West London but who knows? It is early yet!

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 05/06/2024 09:11

Nice & sunny in my bit of West London too!

whirlyhead · 05/06/2024 09:14

I'm in Mallorca and we've permanently taken the sun hostage. Really rather rude of us.

My garden would love some rain - can you send some over please??

OurChristmasMiracle · 05/06/2024 09:15

Unfortunately Mother Nature is going through some personal issues currently hence the on and off weather.

She is currently therefore only available during very brief periods and even then she is unable to fulfil country wide sunshine

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 05/06/2024 09:15

We've got it in Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It's our turn and you are not getting it back as you always hog it.

Thoughtful2355 · 05/06/2024 10:28

I'm in Devon. I have my heating on and I'm currently lying under my duvet freezing.

flutterby1 · 05/06/2024 10:52

7 months of grey cold and drizzly winter in UK and now this pathetic ' summer' it's so depressing for the human soul to live in the UK on so many levels.
