I went for my cervical screening on Friday - I've been few times in the past, no problems, so wasn't anxious.
However I found this time really painful. The nurse struggled to get the speculum in and seriously lacked bedside manner. Just kept telling me to stop tensing, and continued to shove it into me. No lube added, didnt offer a smaller speculum. It was really painful.
I bled on the examination table, and bled a little for a while after. However I'm still spotting (very lightly) on and off, and have period like cramps on and off. Is this typical? I'm due on my period next week and wonder if it's just all got a bit irritated in there since the nurse was so heavy handed. (To note, I don't normally have any cramps a week before my period). The nurse said bleeding can happen and didn't mention if she'd seen anything unusual during the examination.
